FIRE
On the 17th of January 2018 about 12:45am, acting upon information received, Police responded to a report of a fire on Glenn Street. Upon arrival, officers observed an unpainted two story board house with zinc roofing, at no.12 Glenn Street, engulfed in flames. The fire later spread to an adjacent yellow two story board house rented by Justo MIRANDA, 42 year old Honduran Construction Worker of No.14 Glenn Street, and thereafter, to a two story board house with zinc roofing belonging to Rutigo VILLANUEVA, 49 year old Belizean Construction Worker of no.16 Glenn Street. The Fire Department personnel extinguished the fire. Initial investigations revealed that on the 17th of January 2018, at about 12:40am, MIRANDA was at home sleeping when he was awaken by the smell of smoke, upon investigating he observed that the house located at no. 12 Glenn Street, an abandoned house and property of Hipolito BAUTISTA - now deceased, was on fire. All three houses were completely destroyed by the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and no one was injured. Police investigation continues.
FATAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENT
On the 14th of January 2018 at about 7:38pm, police responded to a report of a Road Traffic Accident between miles 46 and 47 on the George Price Highway. Upon arrival officers observed a hispanic male person with severe head injuries, apparently dead, in the middle of the Highway. Initial investigations revealed that Jeffery THOMPSON, 24 year old Construction Worker of a Belmopan address, was driving a black and grey Cruise motor cycle, traveling from the direction of Roaring Creek towards Camalote Village, when upon reaching in front of Westar Convenient Store, he collided into another motor cycle. His passenger, Francisco POLANCO, of a Stann Creek Valley Road address, was flung off the cycle and landed on his head which caused his injuries. The driver of the other motor cycle, Raul GARCIA, 28 year old Labourer of Young Bank area of Camalote Village, was driving a red Lifan 200 when he exited Westar compound on to the highway when he collided into the said cycle. The body of Francisco POLANCO was transported to the Western Regional Hospital where he was pronounce dead. Police are investigating.
