ORANGE WALK DISTRICT

HOUSE FIRE

On the 26th of August 2017 at 4:20am, police responded to a house fire at Crab Fish Street, Trial Farm Village, where they saw a wooden house engulfed in flames. Jennifer ZUNIGA, 19-year-old, reported that she woke up at 4:00am due to the strong smell of smoke. She checked the kitchen area and saw her stove on fire. She then exited the house along with her two children. No one was injured. The cause of damages is not yet ascertain. Police are investigating.
 
BELIZE DISTRICT

SHOOTING INCIDENT

On the 25th of August 2017 about 4:55am, police visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they saw Peter SUTHERLAND, 30-year-old of La Croix Boulevard, suffering from a gunshot injury to his right hand. Investigation revealed that on the said date at about 4:50am, SUTHERLAND was riding his bicycle on Cemetery Road when a male person fired several shots at him. Police are investigating.

ARREST

Reference the Murder of Wyndell Edward GIBSON that occurred on the 24th of August 2017; on the 25th of August 2017, Police arrested and charged Orlando SALAZAR, 26-year-old of Belize City, and Joel CHOCO, 21-year-old of Hattieville Village, jointly, for the crimes of Murder and Attempt Murder.
 
FOUND PROPERTY

On 25th August 2017 at 11:45pm, police conducted searches on Amara Avenue which led to the discovery of a homemade firearm wrapped in a black T-Shirt. Inside the chamber was a .38 round. No one was in the area. The firearm and ammunition were labeled as found property.
