BELIZE CITY

KEPT PROHIBITED FIREARM/AMMUNITION

At 6:40pm on 18th of August 2017, police were conducting patrols in the Saint Martin’s area, Belize City, when they conducted a search on Dwight Patrick OROSCO which led to the discovery of a pen gun and three .22 rounds of ammunition. He was arrested and charged for Kept prohibited firearm and Kept ammunition without a gun license.

MURDER

On 20th of August 2017 at 9:35pm, police visited #139 Neal’s Pen Road Extension where they saw what appeared to be blood in some bushes next to a wooden house. Investigations revealed that at about 9:33pm, Ryan THOMPSON, 24-year-old of same address, arrived at his house and was about to open his door when a person fired several shots at him causing his injuries. THOMPSON succumbed to his injuries at 2:56am on the 20th of August 2017. Police have one person detained as the investigation continues.

SAN PEDRO TOWN

MURDER

On the 20th of August 2017 at about 2:40pm, police visited Winner's Spot located on Barrier Reef Drive, San Pedro Town, where they saw Armando LOPEZ, 34-year-old Carpenter of San Pedrito area, inside the bar with gunshot injuries to his chest and left arm. Investigations revealed that on the 20th of August 2017 at around 2:40pm, LOPEZ was sitting down inside the bar when a male person fired shots at him causing his injuries. Police have two persons detained and are seeking another as investigation continues.

CAYO DISTRICT
 
ARSON

Andra ACEVEDO, 21-year-old Student of #72 Santa Cruz Street Santa Elena, reported that, on the 18th of August 2017 at about 2:45am, she was at home when she suddenly started to smell the strong aroma of gasoline and then noticed that her SUV Mazda Tribute was on fire. She also saw a male person known to her standing outside her house and as he saw her, he made good his escape. Police investigation continues.

KEPT AMMUNITION WITHOUT A GUN LICENCE

On 17th of August 2017 at about 11:00pm, police conducted a search at a house at #15 Chile Street which resulted in the discovery of a plastic bag containing 8 rounds of ammunition. Present at the time of the search was a 21-year-old male, Lorenzo SANTIAGO, who was arrested and charged for Kept ammunition without a gun license.

FOUND PROPERTY

On 18th of August 2017 at about 2:40pm, while police were conducting vehicle checkpoint at Ringtale on the Hummingbird Highway, they searched a passenger bus which led to the discovery of a knapsack containing 1462 grams of cannabis. No one claimed the item. Therefore it was deposited as Found Property.
