ORANGE WALK DISTRICT

SHOOTING INCIDENT

On the 15th of August 2017 at 5:05pm, police visited Yo Creek Village, Orange Walk District, where they saw Dwayne ALMENDAREZ, 30-year-old of Orange Walk Town, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Investigation revealed that, at about 4:45pm on the said date, a Custom Officer, supported by BDF soldiers, conducted a search on a passenger bus in the area where they attempted to confiscate some uncustomed goods. An altercation reportedly ensued during which ALMENDAREZ reportedly assaulted the officers. The crowd then started to throw rocks at the team who fired a warning shot which did not deter ALMENDAREZ, He reportedly continued to attack the Custom Officer, who in fear for his life, pulled out his 9mm pistol and fired several shots causing injuries to ALMENDAREZ. He was transported to the Northern Regional Hospital and later to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for further treatment where his condition is described as critical but stable. Police investigations continues

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE

On the 15th of August 2017 at 5:57am, a 31-year-old of a Belize City address, reported that sometime between the hours of 6:15pm on the 14th of August 2017 and 5:30am on the 15th of August 2017, his red Meilun brand cycle with license plate number BZ M- 085 that was parked in the compound of the apartment complex was stolen. Police investigations continue.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE

On the 15th of August 2017 at 9:15am, Roy SAVERY, 47-year-old of a Belize City address, reported that sometime between the hours of 9:40pm on the 14th of August 2017 and 5:40am on the 15th of August 2017, someone entered his yard and stole a black Meilun brand motorcycle with plate number MC 4774 which is the property of Priority Security. Police investigations continue.
