DANGEROUS HARM
On the 27th of July 2017 at 6:25am, San Ignacio Police visited an area in San Antonio Village where they saw Eusterio Verano COC, 45 year old Belizean Special Constable, suffering from apparent stab wounds. COC was transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital for Medical attention. Initial investigation revealed that COC was on his way to the bus stop in San Antonio Village when a male person, known to him only as Mai, who was being assaulted with a machete by one, Amir TZIB, requested his assistance. COC assisted by taking away the machete from TZIB and was walking away when he felt a sudden sharp pain to his rib area. When he turned around, he realized that TZIB had stabbed him with a knife. The attack continued, as TZIB inflicted another cut wound to his left arm. In self-defense, COC swung the machete he had taken away from TZIB and inflicted a cut wound to TZIB’s left hand. COC then managed to run away seeking villagers help in calling the police. Amir TZIB, 25 year old Belizean Unemployed of San Antonio Village Cayo District is detained pending charges.
SHOOTING INCIDENT
On the 27th of July 2017 at 9:04pm, San Ignacio Police visited corner Eden Drive and George Price Highway, Santa Elena Town, where Jose Leonardo Nunez CASTELLANOS, 37 year old Honduran Construction Worker of Santa Cruz Area, was seen lying face down under a business establishment suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the body. CASTELLANOS was transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 9:49pm. Initial investigation revealed that at 9:00pm an altercation ensued between a 31 year old man and CASTELLANOS. CASTELLANOS inflicted a chop wound to the right hand of that man and was in the process of inflicting another chop wound when the man drew his licensed 9mm pistol and fired several shots in the direction of CASTELLANOS causing the injuries. The 31 year old then proceeded to a nearby hospital seeking medical attention for the chop wound. Police has since recovered the licensed firearm. Police investigation continues.
