LADYVILLE VILLAGE

ARREST

Reference the Shooting Incident report sent on the 4th of July 2017, police arrested and charged Jesse MEJIA, 22-year-old Unemployed of #241 Eagle Street, Ladyville Village, with Kept Ammunition without a Gun License and Kept Firearm without a Gun License.

BELIZE CITY

ROBBERY

Esther SOBERANIS, 43-year-old Belizean-American Teacher, reported that at 12:50pm on the 4th of July 2017, she was at the Lord Ridge Cemetery by Pitter Street, Belize City, along with Sharon THOMPSON and other family members, when they were approached by two male persons. One of whom pointed a handgun at her and demanded her properties. She then handed over all her jewelry and cellphone while Sharon was robbed of her of jewelries. Both men then made good their escape. Police investigations continue. 

SAN PEDRO TOWN

DRUG TRAFFICKING

At 1:40pm on the 3rd of July 2017, police conducted a search at the apartment of Jermain Dion ZUNIGA, 31-year-old Construction Worker of San Pedrito area, which led to the discovery of three parcels of cannabis weighing a total of 953 grams. ZUNIGA have since been arrested and charged with Drug Trafficking.

CAYO DISTRICT

HOUSEFIRE

At 5:00am on the 5th of July 2017, police responded to information received of a house fire in Teakettle Village, Cayo District, where they observed a green wooden structure with zinc roofing engulfed in flames. The fire was later extinguished by personnel from the Fire Department. Mark SANTOS, 54-year-old Carpenter and Owner of the house, reported that he left his house on the 24th of June 2017, to live in Santa Elena Town, Cayo District. SANTOS further stated that upon passing his house on the 5th of July 2017, in a bus heading to work in Belmopan, he observed his house engulfed in flames. No one was occupying the house at the time. The house was completely destroyed by fire. The cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained. Police investigations continue.

BURGLARY                                         

Gerrit VERHUYGHT, 43-year-old Belgian National of Bullet Tree Falls Village and Owner of Iguana Yard Resort also located in Bullet Tree Falls Village, reported that on the 3rd of July 2017 at around 3:00am, he was awaken by the barking of his dogs and checked to see why. He noticed that the lights on his palapa and one of the cabanas were turned off. He felt like someone was in his yard so he called a police officer who lives in the vicinity. They made checks in the yard and found Hilberto YE, 21-year-old Laborer of Bullet Tree Falls Village, sleeping by a tree on his property. YE was taken to the San Ignacio Police station where a search was conducted on him where police found a bunch of keys, earrings, jewelry and a wire cord, all property of VERHUGHT. On the 4th of July 2017, Hilberto YE was arrested and charged for the crime of Burglary.
