LADYVILLE VILLAGE

SHOOTING INCIDENT

At 9:37pm on the 3rd of July 2017, police responded to a shooting incident on Pigeon Street where they saw Elward McKAY, 27-year-old of Ladyville, suffering from gunshot wounds to the back and chest area. Investigations revealed that McKAY was riding a bicycle on Pigeon Street when a male person rode up behind him and fired several shots at him causing his injuries. McKAY was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was admitted in a stable condition. While police were patrolling the area they saw Jesse MEJIA, 22-year-old of Ladyville, who upon seeing the Police, rode off on his bicycle.  While police were pursuing MEJIA, they saw him throwing an object in the bushes. He was apprehended and taken to the area where he threw the object where police found a .38 revolver with (4) expended shells and (2) live rounds. MEJIA have since been detained pending charges.

DRUG TRAFFICKING

At 10:00am on the 3rd of July 2017, while police were conducting vehicular check point at mile 14 on the George Price Highway, they stopped a maroon car in which Akeem LINO, 28-year-old Construction Worker of Punta Gorda Town, was a passenger. A search was conducted on him which led to the discovery of a transparent plastic bag in his pocket which contained 8 grams of crack-cocaine. Akeem LINO have since been arrested and charged with Drug Trafficking.
