COROZAL DISTRICT

MISSING PERSON

Elias CANTUN, 39-year-old Boat Captain of Ranchito Village, reported that on the 15th of June 2017 at about 3:00pm, he had a discussion with his 12-year-old son, Joslyn Elias CANTUN, about some missing items. His son then ran out of his house and has not been seen since. Police are investigating.

BELIZE DISTRICT

THEFT OF MOTOR CYCLE

Jerome E. MARSHALL, 31-year-old Self-employed of #4357 Fabers Road, Belize City, reported that sometime between the hours of 8:30pm on the 14th of June 2017 and 4:56am on the 15th of June 2017, his red LF150 7A LIFAN brand motorcycle bearing license plate number MC 4412 was stolen from 110 B Cemetery Road, Belize City, where he had parked it. Police are investigating.

ARSON

Acting upon information received of a House Fire, police visited Dorothy Menzies Child Care Center located at corner of #48 St. Thomas Street and 19th Street, Belize City, where they observed a sofa and an AC unit completely damaged by fire at the back of the building. Kisha COYE, 35-year-old Foster Mother, reported to the police that at about 3:30pm she was sitting under a shed located on the compound when she was alerted by the security officer of smoke coming from behind the main office. She then proceeded up to the office and noticed a huge fire at the back of the building. She called 911 and informed them of the incident. Shortly after, the Fire Service arrived and extinguished the fire. All damaged items are property of the Government of Belize. Estimated value of damages is yet to be ascertain. Police are investigating.

ATTEMPT MURDER

On the 15th of June 2017 at 7:40pm, police received information of someone getting shot on Jasmine Street, Belize City, and visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they saw Wasan AVILA, 24-year-old Unemployed of #6322 Jasmine Street, suffering from gunshot wounds to the right upper back and right arm. AVILA stated that on the 15th of June 2017, sometime after 7:30pm, he was socializing with a friend on Jasmine Street when they were approached by two male persons on bicycles. One of the male persons pulled out a hand gun and fired several shots in their direction causing his injuries. His friend managed to escape unhurt. Police are investigating. 

DANGRIGA TOWN

FATAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

On the 15th of June 2017 at 4:20pm, police responded to a Fatal Road Traffic Accident on Ecumenical Drive, Dangriga Town, where they saw Naomi Abigail TAYLOR, 26-year-old Belizean Teacher of Kids First Primary School and Resident of Dangriga Town, lying motionless on the cement road and red male beach cruiser bicycle beside her. Investigation reveals that Naomi was riding her bicycle to her mother’s residence when a motorcycle driven at the time by Michael ESTERO, 22-year-old Laborer of Wagerale area, Dangriga Town, accompanied by Calvin WILLIAMS, 17-year-old Student, was travelling in the same direction and collided into the rear wheel of her bicycle causing her to fall on the road. Naomi was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital for medical treatment where she was pronounced dead at 5:30p.m. Police are investigating the matter.
