BELIZE CITY

SHOOTING INCIDENT

On the 17th of May 2017, at about 10:00pm, police responded to a shooting incident on Sun Dial Street where they saw (13) .9 mm expended shells. Investigations revealed that a lone perpetrator was seen exiting a car and walking down Sun Dial Avenue where he fired a total of (13) shots towards the Matalon Building and then made good his escape. The building was checked where a total of (11) shots hit the 1st and 2nd floor of the building facing Coney Drive causing damages to the glass wall leaving bullet holes and cracks on the glass. The area affected is being utilized by the Belize Bank. Police are investigating.
 
SHOOTING INCIDENT

On the 17th of May 2017, at around 12:03am, police visited Munoz Alley area, Belize City, where a 22-year-old reported that, around 11:50pm on the 16th of May 2017, she saw two male persons standing outside her house where one of them was in possession of a firearm and fired several shots towards her house. No one was injured. Police are investigating.

FOUND PROPERTY

On the 16th of May 2017 at around 11:30am, police conducted a search in an overgrown area behind the Georgeville Cemetery where they found a white plastic bucket which contained 2.6 pounds of cannabis. Further searches in the area led to the discovery of a plastic bag containing eleven 12 gauge cartridges, a black Maverick Mossberg brand 12 gauge shotgun containing (6) cartridges and a bag containing 2 bullet proof vests. All items were labelled as “Found Property”.

PUNTA GORDA TOWN

FOUND PROPERTY

On the 16th of May 2017 at around 1:00pm, police along with members of the Belize Defence Force and Coast Guard were conducting river patrol near the Sarstoon Island when they observed a red and white item on the bank of the river among the mangroves on Belize side. Upon closer investigation it was found to be a 20-gauge shotgun hidden among the Mangroves roots. The shotgun was labelled as “Found Property”.
