FATAL ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

On the 7th of March 2017 at about 11:35pm, upon information received of an accident between miles 70 and 71 near the Calla Creek Junction on the George Price highway. Police visited the area where they saw a silver colored Mazda MPV 4 door van parked in an open lot off the road, facing the highway, with its entire left and front portion extensively damaged. Investigation revealed that, around 11:15pm on the 7th of March 2017, the vehicle was being driven by Kendra MEJIA, 21-year-old Honduran of Succotz Village, who was travelling from Benque Viejo to San Ignacio Town along with her brother, Hector MEJIA, and her 17-year-old sister-in-law, Lizzemy GUTIERREZ, when upon approaching the Calla creek Junction, she lost control of the van causing it to run off the road, into a ditch and then flipping over. Lizzemy complained of pain to the back, hip and right foot while Hector received a cut wound to both feet, right knee, left eye, upper lip, a swelling on the left side of jaw and bruises to the left side. Kendra was taken to the San Ignacio Community hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Both Lizzemy and Hector remain at the San Ignacio Community Hospital while Kendra was taken to the morgue awaiting a post mortem examination.

KEPT PROHIBITED FIREARM/AMMUNITION 

On the 6th of March 2017 at about 10:00pm, police were conducting mobile patrol on Frankie Cas Street, when they saw five persons about to enter a white Toyota Camry car. A search was conducted in the yard, about ten feet from where they were standing, where inside a garbage can they found a 40mm SW pistol and a magazine containing 7 live rounds of .40mm SW Aguila brand. On the 7th of March 2017, police formally arrested and charged Sheldon Albert SEDACEY, Construction Worker of Georgeville, Vincent Palloti CASTILLO, 49-year-old Labourer of Dangriga Town, Clifford Russell ANDERSON Jr., 27-year-old of Belize City, Hubert VELASQUEZ 42-year-old of Belize City, Lindon HINDS, 24-year-old of Belize City and Pamela Olivia FRANCIS, 38-year-old Domestic of Belize City, for “Kept prohibited firearm/ammunition”.

FATAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENT
 
On the 4th of March 2017 at about 2:45pm, police responded to a Road Traffic Accident on the Sittee River road, Stann Creek, and visited the scene where they saw a black SUV Toyota Rav4 driven at the time by Lawrence LORENZO, 43-year-old Belize Defence Force Officer of Belmopan, with extensive damages to its front portion. Also seen was a maroon colored motorcycle on the side of the highway, extensively damaged, driven at the time by Ernest Lincoln ANDREWS Jr., 52-year-old Labourer of Sittee River Village. Also travelling along with ANDREWS were 25-year-old Rosalyn LOGAN and 2-year-6 months old Eamon Edmond ANDREWS. Investigation revealed that the Toyota Rav4 was travelling from the direction of Hopkins Village to Sittee River and upon reaching in front of Glovers Reef Guest house collided into the motorcycle. The motorcycle passengers were transported to the Southern Regional Hospital and Ernest ANDREWS Jr. was further transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. A Notice of Intended Prosecution was served upon Lawrence LORENZO.
 
FOUND PROPERTY

On the 7th of March 2017 at 3:00pm, an operation was conducted within Dangriga where one sawed off shot gun was found in an abandoned lot. No one was in the area when the firearm was found. The firearm was labelled and deposited as Found Property.

FOUND PROPERTY

On the 6th of March 2017 about 10:00am, police conducted a search in an area in San Pedro Colombia Village, Toledo District, where they found a white sack containing 2.592.5 grams of cannabis. The drug was deposited as “Found property”.
