FOUND PROPERTY                            

On the 28th of February 2017, sometime around 10:00am, police conducted a search of the Cumberbatch Field located on Kraal Road which led to the discovery of a silver and black 9mm Smith and Wesson brand pistol along with a magazine. No one was in the area at the time.

SUSPECTED DROWNING

On the 28th of February 2017, Marvin Hazim YONO, 39-year-old American National of Bloomfield Michigan, reported that he and another friend were at an area located west of Ambergris Caye which is known as “Secret Beach” on separate jet skis. Around 2:30pm, he invited Rickilee Michelle MERCER, 29-year-old American Accountant of Texas, USA, for a ride. Mr. YONO reported that they left on the Jet Ski heading west from “Secret Beach” when they both fell off the Jet Ski. He then swam to shore and the last sighting of MERCER was when she was swimming towards the Jet Ski. They then conducted a search party, but could not locate her. Police then visited the area along with members of the Belize Coast Guard and began to search also. Police investigations continue.
 
BENQUE VIEJO TOWN

HOUSE FIRE

On the 28th of February 2017 at 9:53am, police visited “Better in Belize” settlement situated at mile 13 on the Hydro Road, Cayo District, where they observed the remains of what used to be a wooden dwelling home that belonged to Mrs. Annatasia THORNE who was not at home at the time of the fire. Initial investigation revealed that, on the said date sometime between the hours of 7:30am and 7:40am, farm workers saw the blaze and when they went to investigate discovered a wooden structure building engulfed in flames. The home and its contents were all destroyed by the fire.  Also damaged was a blue Toyota Tundra Pickup that was parked approximately 7 feet away from the house. The fire was extinguished by the Benque Viejo Fire Personnel. Police are investigating.
