KEPT FIREARM WITHOUT A GUN LICENSE
On the 6th of February 2017 at about 4:30pm, while police were conducting mobile patrol on Dolphin Street, Belize City, they stopped and searched two male persons. A further search was then conducted in a black bag that one of the male persons was carrying which resulted in the discovery of a black .38 revolver with (6) six live rounds of .38 ammunition. He was asked for his gun license which he could not produce. Rafael Santiago REYES, 28-year-old of a Belize City, was subsequently charged for the offence of “Kept Firearm without a Gun License” and “Kept Ammunition without a Gun License”.

MURDER
On the 6th of February 2017 at 4:00pm, police visited an area between miles 19 and 20 on the Phillip Goldson Highway, where John ORTIZ, 44-year-old of a Phillip Goldson Highway address, lying motionless on the side of the highway. Further observation revealed that ORTIZ had a cut wound to the right side of his chin, between the right eyebrow and the right eye, an abrasion to the right cheek, an apparent partial shoe impression of blood and abrasion to the right side of his head. The body was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where it was pronounced dead at 6:10am. The body now lies at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital morgue where it awaits a post mortem examination. One male person has since been detained pending investigation.
