DRUG TRAFFICKING

On the 27th of January 2017 at about 2:20pm, police were travelling between San Andres and Xaibe Village when they saw a male person riding a bicycle. Upon him seeing the police vehicle, he took a green bag off his back and dropped it on the road and then escaped into the nearby bushes. The green bag contained a compressed parcel inside with cannabis and a black plastic bag also with cannabis weighing 2 1/4 pounds. Alexander FRANCIS, 29-year-old of Venezuelan Site, was later arrested and charged for Drug Trafficking.

FOUND PROPERTY

On the 27th of January 2017 at about 9:00pm, police conducted search on Santa Barbara Street in an abandoned lot which led to the discovery of a black CZ 83 Browning Brand 9mm pistol. No one was in the immediate area. It was deposited as found property.
 
CITY OF BELMOPAN

DROWNING

On the 28th of January 2017 at about 12:44pm, information was received of a drowning in the Maya Mopan area. Police spoke with 28-year-old Lorena DUARTES, the mother of the child, who reported that sometime after 12:00midday, while hanging out clothes she heard screaming from behind her residence. When she went there, she saw her 1-year-old baby boy Edwin Lorenzo DUARTES in a deep well located behind the house. The child was retrieved from the well and taken to the Western Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival at 1:04pm. The body now awaits post mortem examination.
