LADYVILLE VILLAGE

DROWNING

At 8:16am on the 19th of January 2017, police visited the Belize River bank between miles 7 and 8 on the Phillip Goldson Highway where at about 20 feet from the river bank, the body of a male person was seen floating in the river. The body was removed from the river where it was observed to be that of a dark complexion male person dressed in a white color T-shirt and checkered boxers. He appeared to be in his late 30’s early 40’s and is about 5 feet in height. No identification was found on the body. No sign of violence was observed on the body. The body was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where a post mortem examination was conducted certifying the cause of death to be ‘Asphyxia Inhalation of Fluid consistent with Drowning’. Police investigation continues.  
 
FOUND PROPERTY

At 7:00am on the 19th of January 2017, police conducted a search in an area within the cemetery in Sand Hill Village, Belize District, which led to the discovery of a .22 riffle.  No one was found in the area and the firearm was deposited as “Found Property”.
 
At 7:00 a.m. on the 19th of January 2017, police conducted a search in a bushy area in Sand Hill Village, Belize District, which led to the discovery of a black plastic bag containing 55 grams of cannabis and five black plastic buckets each containing a marijuana tree (ranging from 10 inches to 17inches in height). Police also found a black 9mm pistol and one magazine in a black plastic bag in an open area in the same vicinity.  No one was found in the area and the items were deposited as “Found Property”.

DRUG TRAFFICKING

At 1:00 p.m. on the 19th of January 2017, police were conducting operations in Santa Elena Town when they searched a black and blue bag in the possession of Carlos GARCIA, 20-year-old of San Ignacio Town, which led to the discovery of a black plastic bag containing 508 grams of cannabis. GARCIA have since been arrested and charged with Drug Trafficking.
