BELIZE CITY

ALLOW OR SUFFER A CHILD TO BE IN A PUBLIC PLACE   

On the 9th of December 2016 at around 11:45pm, police brought in two female students ages 16 and 15 who were found socializing on a street in Belize City. The parents were contacted and on the 10th of December 2016, police arrested and charged a 48-year-old mother for the offence of “Allow or suffer a child to be in a public place between the hours of 8:00pm to 6:00am”.
 
STABBING INCIDENTS                                    

On the 11th of December 2016 at 5:30pm, police visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they saw a 13-year-old male, of a Belize City address, suffering from two stab wounds to the abdomen. Initial investigation revealed that he was socializing, in an alley near a school on Dolphin Street, with friends when a male person arrived at the location and got into an altercation with him causing his injuries. Police have since detained a 38-year-old man, of a Belize City address, pending investigation.
 
On the 11th of December 2016 at around 9:00pm, police visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they saw Police Constable #95 Raul JUCHIM suffering from a stab wound to the back. Initial investigations revealed that he was socializing at a residence on Ordonez Street, Belize City, when two men arrived. However, they were asked to leave the premises for which they refused and when PC JUCHIM intervened, he was injured. He was transported to the K.H.M.H. where he was treated and released. Police investigations continue.

CAYO DISTRICT

MURDER

On the 11th of December 2016 at around 8:30pm, police responded to a murder in Yalbac Village, Cayo District, where Melecio GONZALEZ was seen lying on the roadside. Initial investigation revealed that, at about 12:30pm on the same date, Maximiliano, Abimael AUGUST, Eugenia AUGUST and Maria Izabel TOJ were socializing at his residence when an altercation occurred. Later around 4:30pm, GONZALEZ decided to walk to the shop to make a purchase when he was attacked by Maximiliano where he was reportedly hit in the head with a rock and fell unconscious. He was transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival at 11:42pm. Police are seeking Maximiliano as investigations continue.
 
HUMAN SMUGGLING

On the 11th of December 2016 at around 9:15pm, while police were conducting mobile patrol within Santa Elena Town, they came across a black heavily tinted SVU bearing no license plate which passed the Police mobile travelling towards Lama Luz Boulevard. The SUV was pulled over where the driver was identified as 23-year-old Edif SIERRA. He was transporting eight Salvadoran nationals, (4) females and (4) males, in the country illegally without a passport. They were all escorted to the San Ignacio Police Station where a further search was conducted on them, their luggage and in the vehicle where a total of over $2,000.00 U.S currency was found on them. They were all detained pending investigation.

FIRE

Keaton PETILLO, 30-year-old School Warden of Belmopan, reported that, at around 5:00pm on the 9th of December 2016, he was at home with his two stepsons and mother-in-law when he heard one of his stepsons yelling that a mattress was on fire. Efforts were made to put out the fire, however, a number of household, electronic and other items were destroyed by the fire. Police are investigating.

MANSLAUGHTER

On the 11th of December 2016, police visited the Independence Poly Clinic where they saw Hueing Alexander WHITE, 58-year-old Supervisor, lying on a bed motionless. Initial investigation revealed that, on the 3rd of December 2016 at about 7:30pm, WHITE was working inside the Big Creek Port compound when Rodrick KERR, 35-year-old Forklift Operator of Independence Village, was reversing a fork lift when he knocked down WHITE. KERR was detained pending investigation of “manslaughter by negligence and causing death by careless conduct”. Hueing Alexander WHITE was pronounced dead at 9:50pm.
