COROZAL DISTRICT

MANSLAUGHTER BY NEGLIGENCE

On the 1st of November 2016 at 7:30pm, Sgt #290 Everon TECK Sr. was walking on 1st Street North heading towards the Police Station when he saw two male persons chasing another male person from the direction of 7th Avenue to the direction of 5th Avenue. The said male person that they were chasing ran in front of a bus causing the said bus to run over him. He received head and body injuries. The 1997 47 seater MCI bus was driven by Alberto LEWIS COWO, 30 year old Belizean Bus Driver of Concepcion Village. The body of Javier Luis CHAN, 22 year old Belizean Laborer of Chula Vista Area, was transported to the Corozal Town Community Hospital where he died whilst undergoing treatment. The body now lies at the Corozal Town Community Hospital morgue awaiting a Postmortem Examination.

SAN IGNACIO TOWN

FOUND PROPERTY

On the 1st of November 2016 at about 8:30am, Police conducted a search in a bushy lot, situated on Tech Street, San Ignacio Town, where they discovered a black plastic bag which was hidden under dry leaves. The plastic bag was found to contain cannabis. No one was in the area at the time. The drug was taken to the San Ignacio Police Station where it was weighed and found to amount to 2,242grams.

PLACENCIA VILLAGE

FOUND PROPERTY

On the 1st of November 2016 at 8:45pm, Police Officers from the Placencia Sub-Formation conducted a search in the Placencia Village Park where they found a .22 revolver with a brown plastic handle and black metal barrel. The revolver contained (3) three live rounds and (4) expended shells. No one was in the vicinity at the time. The firearm and ammunition were taken to the Placencia Police station where they were labeled as found property.
