BELIZE CITY

SHOOTING INCIDENT

On the 16th of October 2016 at about 1:14am, police responded to a shooting incident and visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they spoke with 29-year-old Emet BAPTIST, Taxi Driver of Belize City, who was seen suffering from a gunshot wound to the left hand and upper back. He reported that he was driving his red Ford Escort taxi cab on Central American Boulevard when upon reaching the bus stop at the corner the boulevard and Banak Street, he was stopped by a male and a female person. They both boarded the taxi where the male person told him that he wanted to go to Aloe Vera Street. Upon reaching the end of Aloe Vera Street the male and the female exited the vehicle, as he was waiting to collect the cab fare, the male person demanded that he handed over his possessions. BAPTIST reportedly took out $35.00 and handed it over to the male person who took out a firearm and fired a shot at him which caught him on his left shoulder, he then began to reverse his car in fear of his life and the male person fired several more shots at his direction. BAPTIST was hit again this time to the left ring finger. He managed to reverse his vehicle and drove to Mahogany Street where he was assisted by police officers and taken to the hospital. Police investigations continue.
 
KEPT AMMUNITION WITHOUT A GUN LICENSE

At 2:30pm on the 14th of October 2016, while police were conducting patrol on Mahogany Street they stopped to search Jamar WILLIAMS, 19-year-old of a Belize City address, who was seen riding a bicycle at the corner of Central American Boulevard and Mahogany Street. However, upon seeing the police he sped off and threw a black plastic bag in a yard on St. Jude Street. He was pursued and apprehended. Police retrieved a black plastic bag containing (11) 9mm live rounds and upon being informed of the offence he had committed, WILLIAMS grabbed the plastic bag from the Police and threw it away. Police retrieved the bag and upon cautioning him, he began to struggle with the Police but he was immediately subdued. WILLIAMS have since been arrested and charged with Kept Ammunition without a Gun License, Obstructing a Police Officer and Resisting Lawful Arrest. 

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE

A Store Manager of Belize City reported that at 8:30pm on the 15th of October 2016, he was socializing at Button Wood Bay Park in Belize City where he parked his grey 2013 Acura RDX, license plates -BCC-48588.  At 12:00am on the 16th of October 2016, he went for his vehicle where it was parked and it was nowhere to be found. Police investigations continue. 
 
HATTIEVILLE VILLAGE

BURGLARY

On the 13th of October 2016 at 10:57am, Alisha LAKSHMAN, 22-year-old of Hattieville Village, visited the Hattieville Police Station to report a burglary. She stated that on the 12th of October 2016 at about 4:55pm, she was at work when she received a call stating that someone appeared to be inside her house. She reportedly then left work and made physical checks inside her house and surroundings. All appeared orderly at the time, just about 5:30pm. LAKSHMAN stated that she then turned on the light in her bathroom and the living room and left for work. On the 13th of October 2016, at around 6:37am, she arrived back home and realized her home had been burglarized. Missing from inside her house were jewelry, clothing, electronic items and other personal items. Police have since recovered the items and detained a 42-year-old man along with 6 minors pending investigations.

SAN PEDRO TOWN

MURDER

On the 15th of October 2016 at about 5:20am, police responded to a shooting incident that occurred in front of a restaurant and bar located on Barrier Reef Drive, San Pedro Town, where they saw the body of Lincoln ROBINSON Sr., 43-year-old of San Pedro Town, lying face down with gunshot wounds to the face. Investigation revealed that around 5:10am, ROBINSON left the Central Park area and was walking on Barrier Reef Drive when a male person walked up to him and fired a shot - point blank - to the right side of his face. As he fell to the ground, the person reportedly fired another shot after which he ran off making good his escape. ROBINSON was transported to the San Pedro Polyclinic where he was pronounced dead at 6:42am. Police have since detained three persons pending investigations.

CITY OF BELMOPAN

ATTEMPT MURDER

At 6:15pm on the 16th of October 2016, police responded to a fight at La Serenita Bar located in Camalote Village, Cayo District, where it was reported that two young men from Camalote Village assaulted Mark RODRIGUEZ, Police Constable 1231 - attached to the Belmopan Formation, who was in his Police Uniform. PC RODRIGUEZ was transported to the Western Regional Hospital then to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was admitted in a critical condition. Police have since detained the two young men pending investigations.

TOLEDO DISTRICT

FATAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

At 6:35pm on the 16th of October 2016, acting upon information received of a Traffic Accident on the Southern Highway, police visited the dump area where they saw a white Chevrolet Cavalier LScar parked on the side of the Highway. Investigations revealed that at 6:30pm on the said date, Domingo PAU, 37-year-old of Belmopan, was travelling from Bella Vista Village towards Punta Gorda when upon reaching an area before King’s Gas Station, he saw a vehicle coming in the opposite direction with its high beam on and just before the vehicle passed him, he saw Jose RASH, of San Marcus Village, Toledo District, who was riding a bicycle, in front of him. PAU stated that he tried to swerve to avoid hitting RASH but his efforts were fruitless, thus knocking RASH off his bicycle. Jose RASH was transported to the Punta Gorda Town Hospital where he was pronounced dead. PAU has since been detained pending investigations.
