AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

A Custom Officer of Orange Walk Town reported that on the 14th of September 2016 at 8:00pm, he drove into his yard and while walking towards the main gate of his yard, he saw two male persons one who was in possession of a firearm, pointing it towards him. He further stated upon seeing that, he turned back and started to run to try to get inside of his house, but stumbled and fall. He stated that he clearly saw the person still aiming at him. He then managed to pull out his licensed 9mm pistol and fired a single shot hitting the person on the left hip while his accomplice made good his escape. Police were called to the scene where they saw Nigel GALVEZ, 21-year-old of Belmopan, suffering from a gunshot wound to the hip. He was escorted for medical attention where he remained under police guard. Investigation continues.

MISSING PERSON

On the 14th of September 2016, Enrique FLORES, 55-year-old of Copper Bank Village, visited the San Pedro Police Station where he reported that, on the 13th of September 2016 at 7:00pm, his worker namely Maria Elena YAH (CANO), 26-year-old of Corozal Town, left a hotel en route to her sister’s house. He further stated that up to the time of making this report he haven't seen or heard from Maria Elena YAH (CANO). Maria was last seen on a golf cart dressed in a black jeans shorts and a dark colored blouse. Police have since found the golf cart abandoned in the San Pedrito area road that leads to Island dumping area. Police investigation continues.

DRUG TRAFFICKING

On the 14th of September 2016 at 5:05pm, Independence Police stopped and conducted a search on Edwardo COC who was inside a Yaxcal Bus Line that was travelling from Jalacte Village to Mayan King Village. The search resulted in the discovery of a black bag containing 702grams of Cannabis. COC was placed under arrest, however, he manage to escape from police. The Cannabis was taken to the Independence Police Station and deposited. Police are looking for Edwardo COC, of San Pedro Columbia Village, Toledo District.
