BELIZE CITY

FIREARM ARREST

On the 12th of July 2016 at about 5:25pm, police responded to reports of shots fired in the Lake View Street area where they observed a male person riding a bicycle on Sarstoon Street with what appeared to be a firearm in his hand. As they reached closer, the male person threw the object in an empty lot. The male person was detained and taken to where the object was thrown where a search was conducted. It led to the discovery of a .38 revolver with black electrical tape on the handle loaded with1 live .38 round and 3 expended .38 casing. As a result, Davon GUZMAN, 19-year-old unemployed of Belize City, was arrested and charged for the offence of Keeping a Firearm and Ammunition without a Gun License.

SHOOTING INCIDENT

Kimberly HUMES, 22-year-old of San Pedro Town, reported that on the 13th of July 2016 at 12:30am, she was at home when she heard a knock at her door and upon opening the door she saw her common-law husband, Dwayne HYDE, 30-year-old Mechanic of same address, at the door. HYDE then stated to her that someone wanted to kill him. Two male persons reportedly entered the yard; one approached HYDE, where after a brief conversation, a struggle ensued during which HYDE received a gunshot wound to abdomen and the other received stab wounds to the neck, mouth and abdomen. HYDE was admitted at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in a critical, but stable condition, while 23-year-old Luis Manuel CARTER is receiving treatment at San Pedro Poly clinic under police guard. Police investigation continues.

CITY OF BELMOPAN

AGGRAVATED BURGLARY                                       

Marlin MALDONADO, 22-year-old Student and Resident of Belmopan, reported that around 1:27pm on the 11th of July 2016, she arrived at her apartment and noticed that her laptop and tablet were not on her bed. After searching, she found a black plastic bag inside the bathroom containing her laptop, laptop charger and tablet charger. Exiting the bathroom she saw a Maya descent male person standing inside the bathroom with a knife in his right hand. The male person attempted to grab her; however, she screamed for help and ran out of the apartment. The male person then escaped. She then went back into the apartment, and noticed that her black Asus brand tablet was missing. Police are seeking this person as investigations continue.
 
MURDER ARREST

Reference the Murder Report in Roaring Creek sent in Police Incident Report on the 11th of July 2016; on the 12th of July 2016, police arrested and charged Aston Felix PUERTO, 18-year-old of Camalote Village, Cayo District, for the crime of Murder.
