ORANGE WALK DISTRICT

ROBBERY

On the 18th of July 2016 at 12:35pm, acting upon information of a robbery, police visited the Western Union located on Belize Corozal Road, Orange Walk Town. Whilst there, the 25-year-old cashier reported that on the 18th of July 2016 at 12:15pm, he was working at Western Union attending to customers when a male person of Hispanic descent entered with what appeared to be a black handgun and pointed it at him, demanding money. He then took the sum of $1,200.00 dollars from the cash draw and handed it to the male person who then turned and pointed the gun towards a 49-year-old customer and robbed him of the sum of $800.00. The thief then pointed the gun towards another customer and robbed him of his cell phone LG Tribute. Thereafter, he made good his escape in a white SUV type vehicle without license plate. Police are looking for two male persons of Hispanic descent as investigations continue.

On the 18th of July 2016 at 5:00pm, Police conducted a search in a small derelict wooden house on Lovely Lane which led to the discovery of a plastic bag containing (5) live 9 mm S&B brand ammunition and (5) live 9 mm Aguila brand ammunition.

PLACENCIA VILLAGE

THEFT

Leopold LESLIE, 48-year-old Tour Guide of Placencia Village, reported that on the16th of July 2016 at about 3:00pm, he docked his 23 feet vessel near the Municipal Pier area of Placencia village with a grey 60 Horse Power (HP) Yamaha brand outboard engine, however, upon making checks on his boat and engine on the 17th of July 2016 about 7:00am, his boat engine was missing. He visited the police station about 8:00am to give a report whereby he was informed by police that they had recovered some outboard engines.
 
Carlton YOUNG Sr. reported that on the16th of July 2016 about 8:30pm, he docked his 23 feet vessel named "Survival" near the Municipal Pier area of Placencia village with a grey 50 Horse Power (HP) Yamaha brand outboard engine. He reported that upon making checks on his boat and engine on the 17th of July 2016 at about 5:45am, his boat engine was missing. He visited the Police Station around 6:30am, on the same date, where he was informed that they had recovered some outboard engines.
 
George EILEY Jr., 44-year-old Tour Guide of Placencia Village, reported that on the 17th of July 2016, he docked his 23 feet boat named "Tessa" on the lagoon side in the Sunset Point area of Placencia village with a grey 60 Horse Power Yamaha brand outboard engine. He reported that upon making checks on his boat and engine, his boat was not in the same position that he had left it and he observed that the cable he had used to secure it was cleanly cut. He also reported that the battery from inside was removed and the bolts used to attach the engine to the boat were already unscrewed, but it was not yet taken off his boat. 
 
On the 18th of July 2016 at about 10:55am, George EILEY Sr., 61-year-old retired Tour Guide, reported that on the 17th of July 2016, sometime between the hours of 3:00am and 4:00am, he received information that his Yamaha Outboard engine and $6,000.00 was stolen off from his vessel. He stated that his vessel “Jadah” was docked at the lagoon area at the South end of the village, by Sunset Point area. He then made his way to the area and found out that his engine was missing along with other items. He further stated that he found these items about 35 yards in another area, not too far from the vessel. Police have since arrested and charged Erwin Frederick CASTILLO, 33-year-old Taxi Driver of Belize City; Ian Francis HAYLOCK Jr., 27-year-old of Belize City; Elroy Charles YOUNG, 26-year-old of Belize City and Kylon GARBUTT, 30-year-old of Placencia village, jointly for the crimes of Theft, Attempt Theft and Handling Stolen Goods. All property were recovered.
