BELIZE CITY

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

A 17-year-old minor of Belize City, accompanied by his sister, reported that at about 4:45pm on the 7th of June 2016, he was in front of his house when he was approached by one, Alston SMITH, who pulled out what appeared to be a handgun from his trousers. He reportedly began running away and SMITH set chase after him. However, while running on Mopan Street heading towards Vernon Street, Belize City, he saw SMITH pointing a an object resembling a .9mm pistol and fired several shots after him. He managed to reach to the Vernon Street Check-point where police were present and assisted him. Police have since recovered two expended 9 mm shells and have arrested and charged Alston Leon SMITH, 24-year-old of Belize City, for the crime of Aggravated Assault.
 
FOUND PROPERTY

On the 7th of June 2016, police were conducting mobile patrol on Ebony Street, Belize City, where they found a black 9mm magazine containing eleven (11) 9mm rounds of ammunition. The magazine and ammunition were taken to Precinct Two Police Station where both Magazine and Ammunition were labeled as Found Property.

SANTA ELENA TOWN

FOUND PROPERTY

On the 7th of June 2016 at about 8:40am, San Ignacio Police were on special operations when they conducted a search on the banks of the Macal River in Santa Elena Town which led to the discovery of (1) white bucket which was hidden under some tall grass. The bucket contained a black plastic bag with 1,237 grams of Cannabis. No one was in the area when it was found. The drug was deposited as Found Property.

DANGRIGA TOWN

ARREST

Reference the report dated the 23rd of December 2015, Police formally arrested and charged Lawrence BERNARDEZ, 27-year-old of Dangriga Town, for the offence of Kept unlicensed Firearm.
 
HOPKINS VILLAGE

BURGLARY

On the 6th of June 2016 at around 10:30am, Denise Marie McCREAERY, 47-year-old Canadian Businesswoman of Hopkins Village, visited the Hopkins Police Station and reported that at about 11:30pm on May 12, 2016, she closed down her restaurant and beach bar “Driftwood” - located on the Northern end of Hopkins Village - and headed towards Loggerhead Pub and bar located on the Southern side of Hopkins Village. At around 1:30am on May 13, 2016, upon returning to her home - located directly beside Driftwood beach bar - she noticed her Cabana and bar were broken into. Stolen were electronic items, jewelry, assorted liquor and $660.00 in cash. Police are investigating.
