DRUG TRAFFICKING

On 18th October 2014 at about 8:50am, Police were conducting a search at a residence where two male persons with a school bag had entered the house to seek refuge, without the owner’s permission, while they were being pursued by Police moments earlier. Police conducted a search inside the house, in the presence of the owner and the two intruders namely Carlos PENA and Ricky ACOSTA. Inside a room, police retrieved a camouflage school bag which contained a yellow sack containing 2,724 grams of suspected cannabis. Both PENA and ACOSTA were arrested and charged for the offence of Drug Trafficking.


SAN PEDRO TOWN

HOMICIDE

On 18th October 2014 at about 7:40am, San Pedro Police visited a wooden 2-story building located on Manta Rey Street, San Pedro Town, where they saw the apparent lifeless body of Samuel DAWSON, 44 year old Belizean Truck Driver of Hattieville Village. Initial investigation revealed that Samuel DAWSON, who was working in San Pedro for the past 2 weeks, was being taken home on 17th October 2014 at around 7:00pm, by his supervisor. However, he asked the supervisor to wait for him as he wanted to buy something to eat. The supervisor then took him to a restaurant at the entrance of San Pedrito Area where DAWSON stopped off. On 18th October 2014 at about 7:30am, the supervisor went to pick up DAWSON at his residence where he observed that the door was ajar. Upon pushing open the door slightly, the supervisor discovered the body. The body of Samuel DAWSON had two apparent stab wound to his neck and a cut wound to his lower lip. The body was transported to San Pedro Polyclinic where it was pronounced dead at 10:33am and then transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Morgue. Police investigations continue.
 
ATTEMPTED MURDER

On 19th October 2014 at about 7:40am, San Pedro Police visited the San Pedro Polyclinic where they saw a male person identified as Ivan ALDANA, 24 year old Belizean Carpenter of San Pedro Town, suffering from a single gunshot wound to his right upper back. Initial investigation revealed that about 10:00pm, ALDANA was standing by a bar located in San Pedrito Area when he was approached by a male person who fired five shots in his direction; one of which one caught him in his right upper back. He was then rushed to the San Pedro Polyclinic. An x-ray was done at the polyclinic where it showed that the bullet was lodged in his spine. ALDANA was then transported to Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in a serious condition. Police are seeking this man as investigations continue.  
 
BELMOPAN CITY

DRUG TRAFFICKING

On 18th October 2014 at 6:30pm, police were conducting mobile patrol on Girasol Street, Las Flores Area, where they saw three Hispanic descent male persons standing on a small wooden bridge exchanging something. Police conducted a search on the male persons namely Joel Jordan LEMUS, 22 year old Belizean Foreman, a 16-year-old and a 14-year-old male. A search was conducted in a knapsack which the 14-year-old had in his possession. That led to the discovery of a pink in color transparent plastic bag containing 185grams of suspected cannabis.  All three persons have since been detained pending charges.
