BELIZE DISTRICT

SHOOTING INCIDENT

Acting on information received of shots fired on Elston Kerr Street in Belize City, on 15th August 2014 at about 11:45pm, police visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they saw Charles HINDS Jr., 31 year old of Belize City, suffering from two apparent gunshot (graze) injuries to the top of his head. Police also saw Eldon Edward SOLOMON, 41 year old of Belize City, was seen suffering from an apparent gunshot injury to the right upper back. Initial Investigation revealed that on 15th August 2014 at about 11:35pm, HINDS Jr. and SOLOMON were socializing on the side walk in front of a residence on Elston Kerr Street when they were approached from behind by three male persons. One of the male persons fired several shots at them causing the injuries to HINDS Jr. and SOLOMON. The three culprits then ran up Pelican Street Extension heading towards Central American Boulevard where they boarded a car and made good their escape. Both victims are listed in a stable condition at the K.H.M.H. Police  have since arrested and charged Devon BAILEY, 22 year old of Belize City, with (2) Counts of Attempt Murder, (2) Counts of Deadly Means of Harm and (2) Counts of Grievous Harm. 

MISSING PERSONS

Carla CASIMIRO, 44 year old of Milpa Site, Ladyville Village, reported that on 11th August 14 at 8:00pm, she received a call from her cousin who was inquiring about the whereabouts of her brother, Denvo Banner DUHANEY. CASIMIRO had tried to locate DUHANEY for the past five days, but have not been able to do so. She has communicated with all her family members about DUHANEY's whereabouts but no one has seen him. The last time DUHANEYwas seen was at the cricket victory party at Lemonal, on 9th August 14. He reportedly stated that he was going to Guinea Grass Village, Orange Walk District, to visit his sister. Up to this time, he has not visited his sister and his whereabouts is unknown to the family. DUHANEY, 27yrs, is of fair complexion, slim built, 6 feet 4 inches in height, has long black hair and brown eyes. If seen, kindly contact the nearest police station.
 

Doreen REYES, 40 year old of Corner Raccoon and Seagull Streets, Belize City, reported that on 10th August 14, she sent her 15 year old daughter, Johanna REYES, to her aunt’s house. On 10th August 2014 at 10:00pm, Doreen then reportedly told Johanna to stay at her aunt’s house at Ladyville for the night and then return to Belize City in the morning of 11th August 2014. On 11th August 14, Johanna did not return home. On that same day, Doreen called at 5:00pm and Johanna told her that she was at her grandmother’s house. Doreen then tried to communicate with Johanna for the past four days, but was unable to get in touch with her. Doreen received information that Johanna is with one of her female cousins. Johanna is of fair complexion, medium built, about 4 feet in height and has brown straight long hair. If seen, please contact the nearest police station.

FOUND PROPERTY

On 16th August 14 at about 9:30am, police searched an open lot on Racoon Street Extension and found a black plastic bag, containing three 9mm live rounds. The items were taken to station and labeled as found property.

BENQUE VIEJO TOWN

FATAL ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

At approximately 5:42am on 16th August 14, Benque Viejo Police received information of a fatal traffic accident which occurred at mile 71, on the outskirts of Succotz Village, on the George Price Highway. Police visited area where they saw the vehicles with extensive damage to their front portions. Investigation revealed that at approximately 5:35am, Mr. Miguel SEGURA, 48 year old Deputy Commissioner of Police and Resident of Benque Viejo Town, was travelling alone from the direction of San Ignacio to Benque Viejo in a Grey Nissan Pathfinder. Meanwhile, Yanie Evan CU, 28 year old Taxi Driver of San Ignacio Town, was driving a Blue Toyota Corolla car travelling the opposite direction with his passenger, Yolanda Consuelo VALENCIA, 54 year old Vendor of Succotz Village, who was seated in the front passenger seat. Both vehicles collided head-on. As a result, CU sustained head and body injuries and was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he is listed in a critical, but stable condition. Yolanda Consuelo VALENCIA sustained fatal head and body injuries and was transported to San Ignacio Community Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Her body now awaits a postmortem examination which is scheduled for 1:30pm on 18th August 2014. SEGURA complained of pain to his chest. Blood specimen was taken from Mr. SEGURA and Mr. CU for analysis of Alcohol content. Mr. SEGURA has been served with a Notice of Intended Prosecution. The DPP has been consulted for advice as the investigations continue.
