BELIZE CITY

SHOOTING INCIDENT

On 10th August 2014 at about 7:36pm, police visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they saw 35-year-old Calbert Alexander BUDD Jr. suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the left elbow. Initial investigations revealed that BUDD Jr. was walking on Iguana Street heading towards Central American Boulevard and upon passing an empty lot on Iguana Street; he heard several apparent gunshots and realized that he had been shot. Police investigations continue.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT/SHOOTING

Stacey Shalene WILLIAMS, 23 year old of Belize City, reported that on 10th August 2014 at about 9:30pm, she got into an argument with her uncle, Raymond FLOWERS, who reportedly was demanding that she give him food. When she refused to offer him food, FLOWERS reportedly got angry and attempted to assault her with a shiny metal object which she observed to be a knife. However, her other uncle managed to restrain him. She exited the house at that time, but her uncle, who was armed with the knife, began to chase her. Fearing for her life, she ran into the police booth located on Supal Street. She then informed the two Police officers, who were posted at the Police Booth, that her uncle wanted to kill her. The police then pulled out his firearm and ordered FLOWERS to stop and drop the weapon he was carrying, however, he continued advancing. As a result, the officer fired a single shot, hitting Raymond FLOWERS on the left leg and left hand. Raymond FLOWERS was admitted to the hospital in a stable condition. One Glock Pistol and a magazine with seven live rounds were confiscated. Police are investigating.
 
ROBBERY

On 9th August 2014, Sunil DARYANANI, 32 year old Belizean Businessman of#12 Albert Street, Belize City, reported that at about 3:30pm, he was at his business place, ‘Gold Star Store’, along with his two workers when he saw a male person enter his store. The male person reportedly took out a black firearm, which he pointed at him and the two employees. Three other male persons entered the store where they began stealing the items. One I phone 5 (belonging to the complainant), (3) pairs of Jordan Slippers, (3) pairs of black Nike Slippers, (7) Cargo Short pants and (4) Polo Shirts were stolen from out the store. The male person with firearm also stole $300.00 from the cash register. All four male persons ran out of the store, and made good their escape on separate bicycles. Police are investigating.

RAPE

On 8th August 2014, a 13-year-old female visited the Police Station in the company of her mother. The girl reported that at around 8:30pm, she went to the Chinese Shop at the corner of Kraal Road and Faber's Road where she met her boyfriend, who took her to his house. While there, she met a short young man whom her boyfriend alleged to be his brother. She went into the house with both individuals where the two young men had sexual intercourse with her. She further stated that she allowed her boyfriend to have sex with her, but his brother forced himself on her. A medical examination was conducted on the 13-year-old where it was certified that she was Carnally Known.  Police are looking for both men pending investigations. 
 
BELMOPAN CITY

BURGLARY

A Belize Electricity Limited Supervisor reported to police that on 6th August 2014, sometime around 3:00pm, he arrived at Belize Electricity Limited compound that is located on #5580 Power Lane, Belmopan City. While making checks on the compound, he noticed that six 80ft 500 MCM copper wire and six 60ft in length copper cable wire were missing. Also, six 45ft 500MCM cable wire were seen damaged. Police are investigating.
