BELIZE DISTRICT

AGGRAVATED BURGLARY & THEFT OF FIREARM

On 30th July 2014 at about 7:05pm, Mrs. Betty WESTBY, 51 year old of Crooked Tree Village, reported that she was at home along with her mother, Vilma WADE, and her fourteen year old son when a male person entered her house. The male person entered through the front door by forcing open the screen door which was locked. He was armed with a knife and proceeded to attack Ms. Vilma. He then turned on the complainant where a struggle ensued between them. The culprit then left the house and escaped in the nearby bushes with Mr. WESTBY’s .22 rifle and six rounds of .22 ammunition. Police investigations continue.
 
PRELIMINARY REPORT: SHOOTING INCIDENT

At about 3:30am on 1 August 2014, a person identified as Andrew AUGUSTINE was shot in the foot on Holy Emmanuel in Belize City. Police have detained two men pending investigations.
 
GRIEVOUS HARM

At about 7:23am on 1 August 2014, 37-year-old Suzette PAVON was attacked at her work place at Bowen and Bowen compound on Slaughter house Road in Belize City. PAVON received a cut to her throat by her common-law husband, Santiago Ricardo PALMA, 48 year old of Ladyville Village. Police are seeking PALMA as investigations continue.
 
BURGLARY

James Bernard HUTCHINSON, of Belize City, reported that sometime between the month of March 2013 and 10:00am on July 31st, 2014, a building used for storage located at No. 64 Regent Street West was burglarized. Stolen from inside the building were a number of household items. Police are looking for one person as investigation continues.
 
POSTMORTEM EXAMINATION

On 30th July 2014, between the hours of 1:20pm and 3:00pm, a postmortem examination was conducted on the body of Alida ASENCIO, 41 year old Guatemalan Vendor of Belize City. The conclusion of the examination certified the cause of death as multiple organs failure due to massive pulmonary edema due to fluid retention due to gunshot injury to the chest and abdomen.

THEFT

Paul MARK, 57 year old Fisherman of Trucking Boulevard, Dangriga Town, reported that on 30th July 2014 at 8:00pm he docked his blue and black 25ft Fiberglass boat “Look to the East”, along with an outboard Yamaha Engine on the end of the Riverside Main Bridge when upon making checks for the boat on the 31st July 2014, at 6:00 am, it was nowhere to be found. Police investigation continues.
