HOUSE FIRE
On 8th July 2014 at about 8:55am, Hattieville Police visited # 174 Ysaguirre Boulevard, the residence of Eloise HYDE, 54 year old Belizean, where they observed the house engulfed in flames. She reported that at about 8:00am, she sent her two grandsons downstairs in the wooden lower flat to watch television and that at about 8:50am; she smelled smoke and saw that it was coming from the downstairs. Shortly afterwards her grandson went upstairs and told her the house was on fire. Initial investigations revealed that her 8 year old grandson was playing with a lighter and lit a curtain which then caught fire and set the entire building ablaze. The fire was extinguished by Fire Department personnel at about 9:20am..
ATTEMPT MURDER
On 8th July 2014 at about 8:35pm, police visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they saw Edwin FLOWERS, 31 year old Belizean Construction Worker of Belize City, suffering from (1) apparent gunshot injury to the forehead, (2) apparent gunshot injury to the left arm and (1) apparent gunshot injury to the left upper chest. Initial investigation revealed that, at about 9:10pm, FLOWERS was on his veranda at home along with his common-law wife and a friend when a dark complexion male person came out from behind some bushes and fired several shot in his direction causing his injuries. Nine 9mm Aguila brand expended shells were retrieved from the scene. Police investigations continue.
