BELIZE DISTRICT

DRUG TRAFFICKING

On 17th June 2014 at 2:15pm, police visited a green wooden bungalow house located on Laguna Drive, Boca Del Rio, San Pedro Town. Upon entering the house, 25 year old Reina GALDAMEZ was seen inside the house along with a female child. About 2 minutes after, a male person - identified as Karim GONZALEZ, 26 year old Belizean Businessman, entered the house and stated that he was the owner. A search was then conducted in the house and upon searching inside a wooden locker in the kitchen area the strong aroma of cannabis was coming from inside the locker. A further search of the locker revealed a hidden compartment inside containing 4 small compressed parcels which contained green leafy vegetable substance suspected to be cannabis, (1) transparent zip lock plastic bag which contained (2) small transparent zip lock plastic bag each containing green leafy substance suspected to be cannabis and a black and transparent case which contained (7) small transparent zip lock plastic bags which each contained green leafy substance suspected to be cannabis. Both persons named were both escorted to the San Pedro Police Station along with the suspected drugs. At the station the suspected drugs were weighed in their presence; amounting to a total of 160.9 grams. Karim GONZALEZ and Reina GALDAMEZ were arrested and charged for the offence of Drug Trafficking to wit: 160.9 grams of cannabis. 
 
BURGLARY

At 1:40am on 18th June 2014, police visited Miles 2 on the Phillip Goldson Highway where they met John LOGAN, 52yrs, who reported that at about 1:30am on 18th June 2014 he was awaken by his dogs who were barking. Upon making checks, he saw a dark complexion male person walking towards his yard. When he saw this he alerted his son. They both made checks within the yard and found a slim dark complexion male person with long dread locks lying under a sour sap tree and next to him was a 32 inch black Samsung HDML LCD Television. With the assistance of his son, the male person was detained and handed over to the Police. He was later identified as Deon Daniel BAINTON, 36 year old of Belize City. Investigations revealed that the television was stolen during a burglary of the residence of a man who is presently in the United States of America and left Mr John Logan as care taker of. Deon BAINTON was arrested and charged for the crimes of Burglary and Handling Stolen Goods.
 
RAPE

A 19 year old woman of Belize City reported to police that, on 13th June 2014 at 3:45pm, she was picked up by a male person, known to her as Adel ABDULLA, on Marine Parade Blvd in Belize City with the intention that he was going to show her a house for rent along the George Price Highway. She further stated that while they were going up the George Price highway, instead of him driving up towards the area, he made a left turn into a road that bears a Home Land Memorial Park sign. The complainant then asked the male person where the property was, to which he drew out a firearm and ask her if she wanted to hold it. She then reportedly asked ABDULLA to take her home, but instead he turned the vehicle around and came to a stop where had sexual intercourse with her against her will. Police have since recovered the firearm and have formally arrested and charged 65 year old Adel ABDULLA, Belizean Businessman of Belize City, for the crime of (1) count of Rape.
