ORANGE WALK DISTRICT

POSSESSION OF FIREARM WHILST UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL

At 10:00pm on 31st May 2014, Police visited a yard in Tower Hill Village where their attention was drawn to Bernabe ROBERTS, who was sitting on the grass and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Police then retrieved a 12 gauge shotgun with (1) 12 gauge cartridge which he had beside him. ROBERTS have since been detained as it is yet to be confirmed if he is the holder of a valid gun license. Police investigations continue.    
 
BELIZE DISTRICT

ABANDONED FETUS

Based on information received of an abandoned fetus at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, on 30th May 2014 at 8:45pm, police visited the K.H.M.H. where they spoke with the Assistant Unit Manager, who reported that on 30th May 2014 sometime around 8:00pm a female patient alerted nurses of a scent coming from under the bed that she was lying on in the observation room. Upon making checks they discovered what appeared to be residue of human tissue believed to be a fetus in a small white box under the bed, in an apparent state of decomposition. The apparent residue of human tissue believed to be a fetus was then taken to the KHMH morgue. Police investigations continue.
 
ARREST

Reference the shooting of Radman WELCH which occurred on 12th May 2014, on 31st May 2014, Police arrested and charged Mark GENTLE, 26 year old Belizean Stevedore of Belize City, with Use of Deadly Means of Harm and Wounding.
 
POSTMORTEM EXAMINATION

On 30th May 2014 at about 1:00pm, a postmortem examination was conducted on the body of Suzanne Ruth KAUP at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital that certified the cause of death to be ingestion of medication.
 
MURDER

On 31st May 2014 at about 2:05am, acting on information received of shots fired in the San Juan Area, San Pedro Town, police visited an area at the corner of Sea Weed and Sand Piper Streets where they saw the body of a male person of dark complexion. The body was seen lying on the ground with what appeared to be a single gunshot to the right eye. Initial investigations revealed that, at about 2:00am on 31st May 2014, 49 year old Alfred KELVIN, of San Juan Area, was walking on Sea Weed Street when a single gunshot was heard. The bullet caught him in the right eye, fatally injuring him. Police investigations continue.

CAYO DISTRICT

MISSING PERSON

Michael BOGAERT, 57 year old Naturalized Belizean Businessman of Upper Barton Creek, Cayo District, reported that, at 1:44pm on 31st May 2014, he received a phone call informing him that his 16 year old daughter, Eden BOGAERT, Belizean/Naturalized Canadian of same address, ran away from home and took her Canadian Passport with her. BOGAERT stated that he made checks at the residence of Kevin PALMA where PALMA’s mother informed him that she found a note; informing her that he left along with Eden and also had his passport in his possession. BOGAERT also believes that their intention is to leave the country as PALMA is in possession of his father’s silver Dodge Ram pick-up. Eden BOGAERT is of Hispanic descent, clear complexion, about 5 feet in height, has brown eyes, long black hair and weighs 105 pounds.  Police investigations continue. 
 
BELMOPAN CITY

ROBBERY

A 36 year old man of St. Matthews Village reported that, at 9:15pm on 30th May 2014, while walking home from the bus stop in the village, he was approached by a male person who was standing under a tree. The person had what appeared to be a homemade gun. He stated that the man pointed the weapon at him and demanded his money. The male person began searching him and took his cell phone and $162.00Bcy in cash. Police investigations continue.
 
ATTEMPT MURDER

Yoney Eleomir VEGA, 21 year old Belizean Tour Guide of Franks Eddy Village, reported that, on 29th May 2014 at 4:15pm, he was socializing with Vitalino REYES Jr., 23 year old Belizean Tour Guide – also of Franks Eddy Village, at a bar located on Blue Marlin Boulevard when one of their competitors arrived accompanied by his employees. The complainant stated that he and REYES Jr. decided to leave the establishment as there is an ongoing conflict between their companies. Upon walking towards the door, a male person who was along with his competitor walked in front of REYES Jr. preventing him from leaving the building. REYES Jr. then walked around the person, when shortly after, the same male person reportedly threw a bottle him at him causing it to hit REYES Jr. to the back of his head. REYES Jr. fell to the ground at that instance. The male person then threw another bottle at VEGA, hitting him to the right temple and also causing him to fall to the floor. The other persons that were along with the competitor reportedly began kicking both VEGA and REYES Jr. until they were unconscious. VEGA reported that upon regaining consciousness, he saw REYES Jr. on the ground still unconscious. Both men were transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where REYES Jr. was admitted in a critical condition suffering from severe head trauma where he remains in a critical but stable condition whilst on life support. VEGA’s injury was classified as Harm. Police investigations continue.
