COROZAL DISTRICT

ROBBERY/HANDLING STOLEN GOODS

On 18th May 2014, a call was received of a robbery that had occurred Lisa's restaurant on 5th Avenue, Corozal Town. Description was received of two male persons wearing black masks, a tall and a short suspect. Both male persons were described to be of dark brown complexion. One of them was mentioned to be carrying a machete and the other, a sawed off shotgun. Stolen from inside the restaurant were a number of electronic items and cash. Both male persons were then said to have made their escape towards Ranchito Village.
 
On 23rd May 2014 a Police Operation was carried out, this led to the discovery of a sawed off shotgun and a machete suspected to be those used by assailants who robbed Lisa’s restaurant. Jermaine SANKER, 19 year old of 2nd Street North, Corozal Town, and Leonard JONES, 19 year old of 3rd Street North, Corozal Town, were detained. Both persons were later arrested and charged for the crime of handling stolen goods. Also recovered, were the pink external hard drive and I-Phone that were among those items reported stolen.

MURDER

On 25th May 2014 at 1:00pm, acting on information received, Corozal Police visited the Corozal Community Hospital where they saw a male person identified as Eder ALCOSER, 26 year old of Caledonia Village, Corozal District, with a large cut on the left side of the abdomen, a cut on the left ribcage area, a cut wound on the head, a small cut on the chin and a large cut on the right forearm almost severing it completely. Also seen was Marcelo ALCOSER, 51 year old Cane Farmer of Caledonia Village, Corozal District, with two cuts on the right lower leg and a large cut on the left lower leg, just below the knee cap. Initial investigations revealed that, on the same date at approximately 11:00pm, Eder ALCOSER went to a local store where he got into an argument with David ROSALEZ which led to them fighting. During the fight, Elias ROSALEZ and Perfecto ROSALEZ Jr. arrived at the location armed with machetes to assist their brother David ROSALEZ. At the same time, Eder ALCOSER’s father; Marcelo ALCOSER arrived and tried to stop the fight which continued and moved from in front of the shop to a nearby area on the street. At the area, the ROSALEZ brothers inflicted the injuries upon Eder and Marcelo. On 26th May 2014 at 8:20am, Eder ALCOSER succumbed due to his injuries. Police have since detained 31 year old Elias ROSALEZ, 34 year old Perfecto ROSALEZ Jr. and 27 year old David ROSALEZ, pending charges. The three men are all Fishermen of Caledonia Village, Corozal District.  David ROSALEZ is presently admitted at the Corozal Community Hospital with a cut on the right arm and large cut to the left side of forehead which he received during the fight. The body of Eder ALCOSER now lies at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital awaiting a postmortem examination.

BELIZE CITY

ARREST

In reference to the murder of 25 year old Ezekiel HERNANDEZ, of Dangriga Town, which occurred on the 26th May 2014, police have arrested and charged 43 year old Charles HERRERA, Belizean Taxi-man of Belize City, for the crime of Murder.
 
ROBBERY

On 27th May 2014 at 3:15pm, 30 year old Jermaine CASTILLO, Deliveryman at Bowen and Bowen Co. Ltd, reported that on that same day, at 2:45pm, he was making a delivery at a business place located on the corner Mahogany Street Extension and Santa Barbara Street, Belize City, along with two of his co-workers when he was approached by three dark complexion male persons one of whom pulled out a firearm and pointed it at him. The male person took all the money he had in his possession and all three male persons then managed to escape on bicycles down Mahogany Street Extension. Police investigations continue.
 
PROPERTY RECOVERED

On 27th May 2014 at 2:11pm, Jimmy ORTIZ, Mechanic of Mile 1 1/2 Phillip Goldson Highway, Belize City, reported that sometime between the hours of 10:30am and 12:00pm on 27th May 2014, his black and grey 1996 four door Toyota Camry car was stolen whilst parked on the street side in front of his residence. Acting on information received, on 27th May 2014 at 3:30pm, CIB Personnel from Precinct 4 visited Gentle Avenue, Belize City, where they recovered a black and grey 1996 four door Toyota Camry car that was report stolen by Jimmy ORTIZ on the same day. The car battery was reported missing from out of the recovered vehicle.
 
CAYO DISTRICT

SHOOTING INCIDENT
 
Reference the Shooting Incident which occurred on 26th May 2014, the shooting victim - identified as 19 year old Elston ARNOLD, of United Ville Village, Cayo District, - was admitted at the Western Regional Hospital in a stable condition. ARNOLD underwent surgery for gunshot injuries received to the left lower side of his back. Police have launched an investigation into this matter where officers, if found guilty, will be liable to both criminal and internal charges.
