BELIZE CITY

MURDER

On 19th May 2014 at 10:50pm, police visited an area behind Port of Belize, Belize City, where they observed the body of Kevin Shakuile CONNOR, 15 year old of Belize City, lying face down with (1) apparent gunshot to the left temple and (1) to the left cheek. Initial investigations revealed that at about 10:30pm, on the same date, police were conducting mobile patrol in the area when they discovered the body of CONNOR. The body was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The body now awaits a postmortem examination. Police are investigating. 
 
HOUSE FIRE

On 19th May 2014 at about 1:30pm, police visited corner Lawrence and Jones Avenue, Belize City, where they saw a cement bungalow structure house with zinc roofing engulfed in flames. Mr. Michael BELISLE, Belizean Engineer, reported that at about 7:25am on 19th May 2014 he left his house and around 1:25pm he received a call where he was informed that his house was on fire. The 30 feet x 25 feet wooden structure was completely destroyed by Fire. Police are investigating
 
DROWNING

On 18th May 2014 at about 4:30pm, Bermudian Landing Police visited Mr. Owen HENDY’s Farm in the Isabella Bank Village, Belize District, located just beside the Belize Old River. Initial investigations revealed that on 18th May 2014 sometime around 3:00pm, 24 year old Keron Michael JEFFORDS, of Belize City, arrived at Mr. HENDY’s Farm along with seven friends to socialize as it was JEFFORDS’s birthday. Upon their arrival at the farm, they were socializing underneath Mr. HENDY’s house when about half an hour after they all went to swim in the Belize Old River. Keron JEFFORDS was the first person to jump into the river followed by the rest. They began swimming across to the next side of the river, but JEFFORDS friends realized that the current was too strong and they turned back to the river side. However, JEFFORDS continued swimming across the river and was swept downstream due to the strong currents and disappeared under. A search was conducted by the villagers along with members of the Belize Coast Guard, Belize Port Authority and BDF. The body of JEFFORDS was found sometime around 7:00am on 20th May 2014. Police investigations continue.
 
FOUND PROPERTY

On 17th May 2014 at 7:15am, police conducted a search on Dove Street in an empty open lot, in Ladyville Village. The search led to the discovery two separate black plastic bags which contained 267 grams of suspected cannabis. No one was in the area at the time. The items were labeled and deposited Found Property.
 
KEPT UNLICENSED FIREARM

On 14th May 2014 at 12:30pm, police searched the residence of 39 year old Christian Jackson EBANKS located on Teachers Street Extension, Belize City, where they found a black plastic bag containing a 9mm pistol containing an empty 9mm magazine which was hidden in a grey Mabe brand stove in the kitchen area. Police have since arrested and charged Christian Jackson EBANKS for the offence of Kept firearm without having been granted a gun license.
 
BELMOPAN CITY

BURGLARY

Jason RIVERO, of Oriole Street, Belmopan City, reported that between 7:00pm on 17th May 2014 and 7:00am on 18th May 2014, his mother’s house, where he lives, was burglarized. The entrance door was forced opened and stolen were (1) TLC Flat Screen Television, (2) Pair Jordan Slippers and (1) Jordan Tennis. Police are investigating.
 
THEFT OF FIREARM

Isaias ORELLANO, of San Martin Area, Belmopan City, reported that on 15th May 2014 between the hours of 7:00pm and 7:30pm, he was at his Business place repairing his bathroom when he left his licensed Smith & Wesson Firearm on top of the bathroom sink. He stated that he received a phone call and left, leaving the firearm. On his arrival, the firearm was nowhere to be found. Police are investigating.
