MURDER
On the 7th of August 2017 at 6:45am, Police responded to a scene at the Corner East Collet Canal and Racecourse Street, Belize City, where they saw the lifeless body of Thomas Arthur STAINE, 39 year old Belizean Taxi Driver of Belize City, lying face down near the canal side with both of his hands tied with a black in color shoe lace. STAINE was observed with multiple stab wounds to the right hand and upper chest area. Initial investigation revealed that, at about 3:00am, STAINE left from Newtown Barracks Area where he normally runs taxi to purchase food and sometime around 4:10am his white in color geo Prizm taxi was found at the corner of King Street and Amara Avenue, Belize City. Thomas STAINE was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
SHOOTING INCIDENT
On the 7th of August 2017 at 10:11pm, Police visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Emergency Room where they saw Fiona SPAIN, 35 year old Belizean Domestic, suffering from an apparent gunshot to the right lower back and a 14-year-old Belizean Student suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his left wrist, upper left chest and upper right back. Initial investigation revealed that at 10:00pm, the minor was sitting on a chair on a verandah on Cleghorn Street when another male person, who was walking in front of Rivero's welding, started to fire shots in their direction causing their injuries. The gunman then ran down Cleghorn Street towards New Road making good his escape.
KEPT FIREARM AND AMMUNITION WITHOUT A GUN LICENSE
On the 7th of August 2017 at 8:06pm, Police were on mobile patrol on Central American Boulevard when their attention were drawn to Brandon TAYLOR, 31 year old Belizean, who had a firearm in his hand. Upon seeing the police, TAYLOR immediately walked into a yard and placed the firearm at a house nearby. Police then escorted TAYLOR back to the spot he had placed the firearm and discovered it was a black in color 9mm pistol fitted along with a magazine containing (17) live 9mm rounds. Brandon TAYLOR was arrested and charged for the offence of Kept Firearm and Ammunition without a Gun License.
THEFT
Ruth DUKE, Canadian Businesswoman reported that between the hours of 12:00am on the 5th of August 2017 and 10:00am on the 6th of August 2017, her white and grey in color 23 foot fiberglass skiff with the name “Demo” and a grey in color outboard engine HP 115 Yamaha brand bearing serial number 6E5-1029456 were stolen whilst moored behind her yard. Police are investigating.
