COROZAL DISTRICT

DRUG TRAFFICKING

On the 19th of July 2017 at 3:00pm, Corozal Police were on mobile patrol on the Phillip Goldson Highway, in the vicinity of San Pedro Village, when they stopped and searched Albert HUMES, 34-year-old of Corozal Town, and Shanice HUMES, 19-year-old of Belize City. Police found (3) packages wrapped in transparent plastic containing 3,174 grams of cannabis which were inside a grey school bag that was between them. As a result, police arrested and charged them for the offence of Drug Trafficking.

COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY   

On the 19th of July 2017 at 11:30am, Ari SMITH, 21-year-old Cashier at Belize Electricity Limited, Belize City, reported that on the said date at 10:30am, she was working cashier duties at the Belize Electricity Limited when a male person approached the counter to pay an electricity bill for the sum of $225.00. He handed the amount to Mr. SMITH, who upon checking the money, immediately noticed that a $100.00 bill with serial number DB939320 was a counterfeit note. Police are investigating.      

INTERMEDIATE SOUTHERN FORMATION

ROBBERY

Ernesto BLANCO, 42-year-old Truck Driver for Lucas Gas station of Bella Vista Village, Toledo District, reported that on the 18th of July 2017 at 9:30am, he was in the vicinity of Monkey River Village driving a butane truck, accompanied by his co-worker, Winder PAREDEZ, when two male persons came out of the nearby bushes while he was slowing down due to a pot hole. The male persons were armed with a machete and demanded money. During the process, Winder PAREDEZ was inflicted with a cut wound to the left side of his head. And as a result, handed over the purse containing $1,800.00. Both assailants made good their escape. Police are investigating.
