HOUSE FIRE
On the 8th of July 2017 at 1:54am, police visited #4496 Zacaranda Street, Belize City, where they observed a pink upstairs wooden structure destroyed by fire. Patricia FLOWERS, 37-year-old Self-employed of same address, reported that sometime before 6:00pm on the 7th of July 2017, she left her home properly secured and at 2:00am on the 8th of July 2017, she received a phone call with information that her house was on fire. Upon her arrival, the house was completely destroyed by fire. Police investigations continue.
THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE
On the 8th of July 2017 at 4:40pm, police visited San Pedro Belize Express parking lot where Mouhsen RAMMAL, 36-year-old Entrepreneur of a Belize City address, reported that sometime between 9:00am and 4:30pm on the 8th of July 2017, his maroon 2014 Ford Escape SUV vehicle, license plate # BC C-46927, was stolen from where it was parked in the parking lot of San Pedro Belize Express. Police investigations continue.

FATAL SHOOTING INCIDENT
On the 8th of July 2017 at 2:10pm, police visited an area on the Calla Creek road where a black Toyota Hilux pick-up was seen on the left shoulder of the road that had crashed into a fence post on the Calla Creek road. In the vicinity was the body of Ervin Rene Huex XIQUEN, 37-year-old Guatemalan of Melchor De Mencos, with a gunshot wound to the body. Investigation revealed that police received information of the Stolen Toyota Hilux, upon reaching the area, they then set chase after the vehicle which later crashed into a fence while attempting to overtake a truck. Two male persons reportedly exited the Black Toyota Hilux and fled the scene. As a result, police set chase after them in which one of them turned around and fired shots at the police. In response, police fired several shots in their direction during which Ervin Rene Huex XIQUEN was fatally shot and Marlon Benedicto Chocooj PORTILLO, 20-year-old also of Melchor de Mencos Peten, Guatemala, was seen suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper left leg. The body of Ervin Rene Huex XIQUEN was transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital where it was pronounced dead. Inside the vehicle was a .32 revolver with 5 live rounds of .32, (1) black rifle with markings COLT Ar-15, (1) M16 Cal 5.56mm and (14) live 5.56 rounds. The commissioner of police has since launched a criminal and internal investigation into this matter as investigations continue.
CITY OF BELMOPAN
THEFT
Elijah Samuel GILL, 40-year-old of Belmopan, reported that on the 9th of July 2017, between the hours of 12:30am and 1:45pm on the 9th of July 2017, someone stole his black 12 gauge shotgun with serial number MV85081U which he left inside his silver Toyota 4-Runner between the passenger and driver’s seat. Belmopan Police investigates.
