BELIZE CITY

FOUND PROPERTY

On the 19th of May 2017 at 1:31pm, police conducted a search under a wooden bridge situated in front of a vegetable shop on Faber's Road where they found a black plastic bag containing (1) black in color Beretta brand 9mm pistol which contained a black in color magazine. No one was in the area at the time of the search. The gun was labeled and deposited as Found Property.
 
ROBBERY

Lawrence YOUNG Jr., 20-year-old Student and Resident of Belize City, reported that, on the 19th of May 2017 at 11:50am, he was riding on Lawrence Avenue when a male person rode up beside him on a bicycle and pulled out a firearm. He was robbed of his gold chain. The perpetrator then made good his escape.
 
AGGRAVATED BURGLARY

On the 19th of May 2017 at 6:31pm, Police visited #20 Dunn Street, Belize City, where they learnt that Michael ACOSTA, 35-year-old of same address, had been transported to Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for medical attention. Investigation revealed that ACOSTA was at home along with his 26-year-old common-law wife, Britney GOMEZ, and their 2-year-old son when two unknown male persons came to their home and asked to purchase ice-cream. Michael reportedly opened the door to serve the ice-cream when one of the male persons pointed a firearm at him and proceed to kick him causing injuries to his nose and mouth. The other male person then proceeded to rob Britney of jewelries. Both male persons then escaped on a motor cycle. Police investigations continue.
 
INTERMEDIATE SOUTHERN FORMATION

UNLICENSED FIREARM AND AMMUNITION

On the 18th of May 2017 at 6:00am, police visited BAL Shrimp farm located 4 miles on the Placencia road where they met 38-year-old Security Guard Supervisor, along with 27-year-old Azariah TUSH and a 16 year old male, who he had detained. They were handed over to the police along with a 12 gauge shotgun Rossi brand and a live cartridge. Investigations revealed that sometime around 5:20am on the 18th of May 2017, he was on duty when he was alerted by smoke coming from the bushes behind the garage. He then made checks and noticed that a number of cable wires in assorted sizes were missing. He then walked about 150 meters inside the high bushes and saw some rolls of cable wires and noticed three (3) male persons in the bushes apparently burning some of the wires. On the ground beside them was a shot gun. The security officer then pointed his weapon at them and ordered them to surrender, upon doing so, one of the persons made good his escape. The two remaining persons were detained, and the shotgun was retrieved. Both male persons were arrested and charged for Theft and Kept unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
