ORANGE WALK DISTRICT

FOUND PROPERTY (DRUGS)

On the 10th of March 2017 at 8:36pm, while members of Special Branch Tactical Response Squad were conducting operations within Orange Walk Town, they conducted a search at an unfinished abandoned house located on Rio Grande Street which resulted in the discovery of 515 grams of cannabis. At 12:45am, they conducted a search in an overgrown lot, situated on Palmar Boundary Road, where they found a bucket containing 1,325 grams of cannabis. The items were deposited as Found Property.
 
MURDER ARREST

On the 12th of March 2017 at 4:50pm, police charged Mario AGUIRRE, 25-year-old Belizean Truck Driver of San Roman Village, for the crime of Murder. This is in relation to a stabbing incident on the 25th of February 2017, in San Roman Village, where Marcelino CHAN, 54yrs, was fatally stabbed.

BELIZE DISTRICT

MURDER                         

On the 12th of March 2017, at 3:50pm, acting upon information received police visited 5 miles George Price Highway, Belize City, there they saw the body of a male person identified to be that of Elbert GILLETT, 66-year-old Belizean Taxi Driver of Belize City, who was reported missing since the 10th of March 2016. On the 12th of March 2017, between the hours of 7:00pm and 8:09pm, a post mortem was conducted on the body that certified the cause of death to be one single perforating fatal gunshot wound to the head.

DRUG TRAFFICKING

On the 10th of March 2017 at 9:15pm, while on Faber’s Road Extension, Belize City, police saw a male person coming out of an overgrown yard carrying a large bag and placed it in the back seat of a white Chevrolet SUV. The male person then got in and drove off. The vehicle was pursued and the driver was ordered to stop. The driver was identified as Darrel USHER, Police Corporal attached to Hattieville Police Station. USHER was informed that a search would be conducted on his vehicle where he agreed, but ask the officers if he could park the vehicle on the side of the road. However, instead of parking on the side of the road, he reportedly sped off. A chase ensued where USHER reportedly drove his vehicle towards an area known as “Dikes” where police found the vehicle with both its passenger and driver’s door open. USHER was seen running towards the creek with the bag and made good his escape. A search in the area led to the discovery of the bag floating in the creek. The abandoned vehicle and the bag were taken to the police station where a search conducted inside the bag revealed that it contained (3) brown parcels containing cannabis which amounted to a total of twenty pounds ten ounces. USHER has since been charged with Drug Trafficking.

SAN PEDRO TOWN

DRUG TRAFFICKING

On the 10th of March 2017 at 7:15pm, while on duty at the ocean ferry dock, San Pedro Town, San Pedro Police conducted a search on a 16-year-old male of San Pedro Town, who was seen carrying a black school bag. A search conducted in his black school bag led to the discovery of six parcels of cannabis amounting to a total of 2,491 grams. He was arrested and charged in the presence of his mother for the offence of Drug Trafficking.
 
HATTIEVILLE VILLAGE

MURDER

On the 11th of March 2017 at 8:55pm, acting upon information received of a shooting incident in Hattieville Village, police visited #4 Foster Drive where they saw the body of Michael USHER, 35-year-old Unemployed of same address, lying with gunshot wounds to the head and to the left side. Initial investigation revealed that sometime around 8:45pm, Michael USHER was outside of his house, sitting on the verandah when someone approached him and fired several shots causing his injuries. USHER was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 11:45pm. Police are investigating.

CITY OF BELMOPAN

BODY FOUND

On the 11th of March 2017 at 3:55pm, acting upon information received, police visited the dump site located four miles outside of Belmopan, on the Hummingbird Highway, where they saw the charred remains of what appears to be a human body burnt beyond recognition. Police are investigating.

DANGRIGA TOWN

MISSING PERSON

Francelia LAURIE, 47-year-old Businesswoman of Rivas Estate area, Dangriga, reported that on the 11th of March 2017 at 7:00pm, her 15-year-old daughter, Marcelina FLORES, left home and went to stay at her elder sister’s residence at Ghans Avenue. On the 8th of March 2017 at 7:00pm, LAURIE called her daughter to check on how they were doing and upon doing so she was informed that Marcelina had left the house at about 1:30pm on the 8th of March 2017 to an unknown destination. She further stated that since making this report, she has not heard from her daughter. Marcelina FLORES is 15 years old, stands about 5 feet 2 inches in height, weighs about 120 pounds, and has brown skin, short hair and a round face. Marcelina and was last seen wearing a pink all in one short clothing with pink and white slippers. Police are investigating.
 
MISSING PERSON

On the 12th of March 2017 at 10:03pm, a 55-year-old grandmother of 29 George Price Street reported that her 16-year-old granddaughter, Mekayla SUAZO, left home from same address on the 11th of March 2017, en route to Belize City where she was to stay at a particular residence. However, when she inquired about her granddaughter at that residence she was told that Mekayla did not arrive at that location. Mekayla SUAZO is about 5 feet 1 inch in height, has dark brown eyes, black hair, weighs about 100 pounds, and has in cornrows and a tattoo with stars near her ankle. Mekayla was last seen wearing an off shoulder colorful flower blouse, light blue jeans long pants and orange pair of sandal. Police are investigating.
 
INTERMEDIATE SOUTHERN FORMATION

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE

Javier Francisco FRANCO, 24-year-old Belizean Environmentalist of Cow-pen Village, Stann Creek District, reported that, sometime between the hours of 9:15pm on the 9th of March 2017 and 5:30am on the 10th of March 2017, someone stole his red Meilun brand 2012 (150) motor cycle which he left parked outside a house at Banana Farm 4 Limited compound, Bella Vista Village, Toledo District. Police are investigating.

CAYO DISTRICT

SHOOTING INCIDENT     

On the 10th of March 2017 at 11:50pm, acting upon information received of a shooting incident at Hot Point area, Santa Elena Town, police visited the San Ignacio Community Hospital where they saw Rudolph GENTLE, 39-year-old Laborer of Georgeville, suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his genital area. Initial investigation revealed that sometime around 11:50pm, Rudolph GENTLE was at a residence in the Hot Point Area where a dark complexion male person, wearing a hoodie, entered the yard and fired several shots in his direction, one of which caused his injury. He has since been transported to the Western Regional Hospital for medical treatment. Police are investigating.
 
FATAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

Acting upon information received of a Traffic Accident, police visited Franks Eddy Village, where they saw a grey Isuzu Pickup Truck parked on Franks Eddy Road and a black Skygo Motor cycle extensively damaged. Initial investigation revealed that 17-year-old Eric IBANEZ, Laborer of Saint Mathews Village, was riding the motorcycle on Franks Eddy Road when he collided into the said Isuzu pickup truck which was parked on the side of the road. Eric IBANEZ sustained head and body injuries and was transported to the Western Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
 
TOLEDO DISTRICT

SHOOTING INCIDENT

On the 11th of March 2017, sometime around 10:55pm, based on information received of two male persons with gunshot wounds at the PG Hospital, police visited the location where they saw Melvin HERNANDEZ, 21-year-old Laborer of Punta Gorda, and Benjamin TRAPP, 24-year-old Farmer of San Pedro Columbia Village, suffering from gunshots wounds. Melvin HERNANDEZ was seen suffering from (4) pellet wounds to the neck area and (3) pellet wounds to the right shoulder while Benjamin TRAPP was seen with suffering with (1) pellet wound on the neck (1) pellet wound on the right arm, (1) pellet wound on the right leg and (1) pellet wound on the right side of his buttocks. Police investigation revealed that sometime around 10:30pm, HERNANDEZ, TRAPP and others were socializing at Columbiana Bar in San Pedro Columbia Village when someone from behind the establishment fired a single gunshot in their direction causing their injuries. Police investigation continues.

SHOOTING INCIDENT

Acting upon information received of a shooting incident in San Antonio Village in the Toledo District, on the 11th of March 2017 at 5:30pm, police visited the area where they saw Crispino BOLON, 23-year-old Farmer of San Antonio Village, lying near a bus stop, bleeding from his chest area. He was rushed to the San Antonio Poly Clinic and then to the Punta Gorda Hospital. Initial investigation revealed that BOLON and a male companion were socializing under the bus shed in San Antonio Village, when a male person reportedly arrived and got into an argument with BOLON. The said male person then reportedly took out a 9mm pistol and shot him. Police have since detained one male person pending charges and have retrieved a firearm as investigations continue.
