DISCHARGING FIREARM IN PUBLIC On 20th September, 2008 at 9:30 pm Police heard gunshots coming from the Brodies Area located on the Northern Highway. They visited the address of Eder MEDINA, 22yrs, Belizean supervisor of # 1803 Henderson Ave, Belize City where he was informed of the offence committed and placed under arrest. A 9mm licensed firearm was retrieved which belonged to Andre AGUILAR, OPU. Police formally arrested and charged Eder MEDINA for the offence of "Discharging Firearm in Public". FATAL ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT On 19th September, 2008 at 11:10pm, Derwayne SWIFT, 31yrs Belizean businessman of #3703 Watermelon Crescent, Faber's Road Ext., Belize City reported that about 9:30 pm, he was driving his Mitsubishi Montero on the Northern Highway heading towards Ladyville and between miles 2 and 3, in front of Friendship Restaurant, a Hispanic male person about 5 feet in height, OPU, came across the highway and was hit by the vehicle. The male person both feet were broken and complained of pain on his entire body due to the impact. On 20th September, 2008 at 5:30 am Police made further inquiries at KHMH in regards to the person's condition, but they were informed that he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by Doctor Hermoso at 1:00am. DRUG TRAFFICKING On 19th September 2008 at 3:20 pm Police reported that whilst on patrol in the San Pedrito Area, San Pedro Town, a dark skin male person was seen in a yard located next to Tropic Air who threw a red colored item across the fence into the Tropic Air compound. A search was conducted on him and the said item was retrieved which led to the discovery of a red t-shirt which contained two plastic bags containing suspected cannabis. Suspected drugs was weighed and amounted to 182.2 grams of cannabis. Police formally arrested and charged Shannon Ahmed ALVAREZ, 25yrs Belizean Cook of San Pedrito Area, San Pedro Town for the offence of "Drug Trafficking" to wit: 182.2 grams of cannabis. On 20th September, 2008 at 6:20 pm Police on Anti Drug Operation conducted a search at the residence of Dennis Fernando ZELAYA, 20 yrs, Belizean welder of Palmar Rd, Orange Walk Town where a search on him resulted in the discovery of (2) pieces of suspected Crack Cocaine in his pants. The search at the residence had nothing incriminating. Police formally arrested and charged Dennis Fernando ZELAYA for the offence of "Drug Trafficking", to wit: 1.1 grams of crack cocaine. On 20th September, 2008 about 1:15 pm acting on information received, Police executed a search warrant for Controlled Drugs at the premises of Philbert LESLIE, 27yrs. Belizean taxi driver of George Price Blvd., Benque Viejo Town. Upon arrival at the residence Police saw Anthony GUZMAN, 21yrs Belizean Police Officer of George St. Benque Viejo Town seated on the steps of the house. Leslie was informed of the search and Police proceeded to conduct a search on him whereby a black plastic bottle which contained six plastic bags with each containing suspected Cocaine. Further searches inside the house led to the discovery of a Parcel with brown tape containing suspected cannabis. Both Leslie and Guzman were escorted to the Benque Viejo Police Station along with the Drugs which were weighed and the suspected cannabis amounted to 226.8 grams and the suspected Cocaine amounted to 2.8 grams. Police formally arrested and charged Philbert LESLIE and Anthony GUZMAN jointly for the offence of (2) Counts of Drug Trafficking" to Wit: 2.8 grams of Cocaine and 226.8grams of Cannabis. FOUND PROPERTY (DRUGS) On 19th September 2008 at 9:30pm, Police acted on information received and visited the Airstrip Area where a search was conducted which led to the discovery of a plastic bag containing suspected cannabis amounting to 800kg. No one was present during the search. RAPE On 20th September, 2008 at 6:00 am a 19yr old Belizean female of Belize City reported that on 20th September 2008 between 1:00 am and 4:00 am, she was outside MJ's Club in Belize City and was approached by an unknown male person who asked her if she wanted a ride home. She got inside a van with four other male persons where she was taken to Ladyville in a cement bungalow house. Two other male persons were called from another house in the same yard. All persons engaged in oral sex with her and then engaged in sexual intercourse with her. BURGLARY On 20th September, 2008 at 5:25 pm Nelly HERRERA, 52yrs Belizean Domestic of Cotton Tree Village reported that between the hours of 6:00 am on 15th September 2008 and 8:30 am on 17th September 2008, her house at above address was burglarized and stolen there from were Kitchen items and utensils, tools and an assortment of personal items all amounting to the total value of $4,940.00bcy. Police are investigating. SHOOTING INCIDENT On 21st September 2008 at 4:15 am, Police visited the Western Regional Hospital and saw Felix MIRANDA, 26 yrs laborer of Roaring Creek Village in the Emergency Room suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. Investigation revealed that about 4:00 am on 21st September 2008 whilst Miranda was sitting in front of Smith Cool Spot in Roaring Creek Village, he was approached by Brandon JONES, Jeremy JOSEPH and Jamie ARMSTRONG, OPU where a struggle ensued and as a result Miranda was shot by one of his attackers. JONES, JOSEPH and ARMSTRONG are wanted by Police pending investigation.
