SHOOTING INCIDENT

On 11th October 2014 at about 8:58pm, police responded to a report of shots being fired at the corner of New Road and Hyde’s Lane where they saw Jose Luis UMANA, 33 year old Salvadoran National of Belize City, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the center of the forehead. He was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing medical treatment at 9:55pm. Police investigations continue.

SAN PEDRO TOWN

RAPE

A mother of San Pedro Town visited the San Pedro Police Station, accompanied by her 14-year-old daughter, and reported that on 9th October 2014, she was raped by a male person she knows. She further stated that, on the same date, she was walking to the beach and was offered a lift in a van being driven at the time by the said male person, who is of Hispanic descent. The person, after inviting her for a ride, took her to a store where he purchased a bottle of rum, a coke, ice, plastic cups amongst other things. He then gave her a cup of rum and coke after which he took her to an area on Coconut Drive, San Pedro Town, where he proceeded to have sexual intercourse with her against her will. Police are seeking the suspect as investigations continue.
