ORANGE WALK DISTRICT

DRUG TRAFFICKING

On 9th October 2014 at about 7:30pm, police along with customs were conducting Vehicle Check Point at the Douglas Junction on the Phillip Goldson Highway. There they intercepted a Nissan Exterra SUV which was about to pass the VCP; for they observed as a passenger threw a bag out of the vehicle. Police then retrieved a brown and grey Jansport bag as the item which was thrown out the vehicle. The driver was informed to pull over, but instead he sped off, heading in the direction of Orange Walk. The Jansport bag was opened and a block of green vegetable-like substance wrapped in transparent plastic, suspected to be cannabis, was observed inside. Attempts were made to locate the said vehicle and occupants, but all attempts were fruitless. On 10th October 2014 at 9:00am, the same Nissan Extera was seen at a tire repair shop in Trial Farm Village. Dominique FRANKLIN, 21 year old of Orange Walk Town, was escorted to the Orange Walk Police station along with the vehicle. A search was conducted on the vehicle where cannabis seeds and small particles were found on the floor of the vehicle. The drugs were shown to him and weighed in his presence. The drugs amounted to 1500grams. It was then sealed and labeled as exhibit. On 10th October 2014, police arrested and charged Dominique FRANKLIN for the offence of Drug Trafficking.

BELMOPAN CITY

On 9th October at around 10:00pm, Belmopan police conducted mobile patrol around the North Ring Road where a grey SUV Ford Escape, heavily tinted with L/P#CYO- C32392, was intercepted. Four occupants, 3 males and 1female, were in the vehicle. A search was conducted inside the vehicle, but nothing incriminating was found.  A search conducted inside a pink flower sling bag, the female occupant’s possession, led to the discovery of a black plastic bag containing (2) Crazy Glue containers containing 52 and 85 pieces of white puffy substance suspected to be crack cocaine and another black plastic bag with green vegetable substances suspected to be cannabis. All occupants were informed of the reason for their arrest and caution and were escorted to the Belmopan Police Station. They were identified as Jose OROSCO, 21 year old of Ladyville; Samuel PENA, 23 year old of Belmopan City; Farita HYDE, 28 year old of Belmopan City; and Nelson HYDE, 31 year old Businessman of Buena Vista Village. The suspected cannabis was weighed in their presence to wit: 71 grams; and the Crack Cocaine to wit: 20.9grams. All mentioned persons were arrested and charged for Drug Trafficking.
 
 
THEFT                                            
 
The Belizean Accountant Administrator for OIRSA, Belmopan City, reported that sometime between 6:00pm on 9th October 2014 and 7:15am on 10th October 2014, (1) white 4 door, 2014 Toyota Hilux with Diplomatic License Plate G5-CD09 bearing VIN MROER32G606036, was stolen while parked inside the OIRSA compound located at mile 1 on the Hummingbird Highway, Cayo District. Police investigations continue.
