SHOOTING INCIDENT

On 2nd October 2014 at about 9:21pm, police responded to a shooting incident at Grants Alley, Belize City, and visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they saw Gerald PALMER, 27 year old Belizean Food Vendor of Belize City, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Initial Investigations revealed that on 2nd October 2014 at 9:15pm, PALMER was walking on Grants Alley towards Barrack Road when upon reaching the corner of Grants Alley and Cards Alley a lone gunman fired several shots at him causing his injuries. The gunman made good his escape. PALMER was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 2:24am on 3rd October 2014. Police retrieved (5) 9mm expended shells and (1).380 expended shell from the scene. Police investigations continue.

DRUG TRAFFICKING

On 2nd October 2014 at 4:00pm, Police intercepted an olive green Infinity car with license plates BZE-C-35565 at 8 miles on the George Price Highway, Teakettle Village, Cayo District. The car was driven by Derrol DOUGAL, 27 year old Belizean Prison Officer.  A search of the trunk led to the discovery of a pink hand bag which contained 3 large black parcels with contents suspected to be cannabis. The driver along with the vehicle and suspected drugs were escorted to the Belmopan Police Station. The drugs were weighed and found to be of 12.57Kg. Derrol DOUGAL have since been detained pending charges for Drug Trafficking.
