COROZAL DISTRICT

FATAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

On 29th September 2014 at 4:20pm, police were called to an accident scene in the vicinity of the free-zone gate, where they saw a blue Ford Ranger pick-up truck bearing license plates TB-2732-D in the middle of the road, extensively damaged. About 30 feet away from the vehicle, police also saw Jose Benigno LOPEZ, 37 year old Mexican Watchman of Quintana Roo, apparently dead. Initial investigation revealed that at about 4:00pm, the vehicle was driven at the time by Jose LOPEZ and he was accompanied by a passenger, Tilo Diaz LOPEZ, 50 year old Mexican Farmer. Jose exited the free zone at a high speed where he suddenly lost control of the vehicle causing it to overturn several times.  Investigations also revealed that both men were flung out of the vehicle where Jose LOPEZ apparently suffered a blow to the head. The body of Jose LOPEZ was taken to the Corozal Town Hospital where it was pronounced dead on arrival. The body now awaits a postmortem examination. Tilo LOPEZ was treated for minor bruises to the body and a small cut wound to the head and was later released. Police investigations continue.

ORANGE WALK DISTRICT

BURGLARY

A 28-year-old Belizean Electrician of Orange Walk Town, reported that between the hours of 7:00pm and 8:30pm on 29th September 2014, someone cut his chain link fence and went inside his yard. The person(s) then forced entry into his concrete house and stole tools, electronic items, personal documents and cash. Police investigations continue.

BELIZE CITY

ROBBERY

At about 1:15pm on 29th September 2014, police responded to a robbery at the Belize Medical Center at #5527 St Thomas Street, Belize City, where an employee reported that she was held up at gunpoint by two male persons of dark complexion, who made off with an undisclosed amount of money. Police investigations continue.
