BELIZE DISTRICT
BURGLARY
A 42-year-old woman of Belize City, reported that between the hours of 8:00am and 2:15pm on 25th September 2014, someone entered her two bedroom house and stole one Black Sony Brand touch screen camera and a large assortment of gold jewelries. Police are investigating.
SHOOTING INCIDENT
On 26th September 2014 at 10:40pm, police visited La Democracia Village where 21-year-old Joshua Daniel MARTINEZ reported that he had just come off a Shaw’s bus at the junction of George Price Highway and La Democracia Village, along with his 16-year-old sister, and while sheltering from the rain under the bus shed, they were approached by three male persons. One of whom pulled out a firearm and fired six (6) shots at them hitting MARTINEZ on the right arm and left upper back. MARTINEZ is admitted at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in a stable condition. Police have since arrested Adolphus PALACIO, 20 year old of Mahogany Heights, pending charges.
On 27th September 2014, police visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they saw 30-year-old Joseph DEBRIDE suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the back and neck. Police have since detained one man, pending charges. DEBRIDE remains in a stable condition.
On 28th September 2014 at 1:37am, police responded to a shooting incident on Neal Pen Road Extension where two men reportedly fired several shots into a gathering of people. Luckily no one was injured. Police have since detained two minors, ages 15 and 17, pending investigation.
On 28th September 2014 at 3:09am, police responded to a shooting in the vicinity of BTL park where they apprehended and detained Michael McDONALD, 23 year old of Belize City. Police retrieved a .38 firearm with 5 expended shells from McDONALD. No one was injured.
AGGRAVATED BURGLARY
At about 12:45pm on 28th September 2014, the proprietor of Malboro Shop, at #79 Freetown Road, reported that he was robbed at gunpoint and hit in the head with the weapon when 4 male persons robbed his store and made off with a laptop, Ipod and an undisclosed amount of cash. The culprits then escaped in a waiting vehicle. Police investigations continue.
HIT and RUN
On 27th September 2014 at about 2:00pm. Police Constable Dejohn CAYETANO was knocked off his motorcycle at the corner of North Front and Douglas Jones Streets. CAYETANO received head and body injuries and was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he remains in a stable condition. Police are seeking the driver of the vehicle as investigations continue.
ARSON
On 24th September 2014 at 10:45pm, Hattieville Police visited a street in Mahogany Heights where they saw a black Astro van totally destroyed by fire. The vehicle was parked in front of Orton COLEMAN's residence. COLEMAN reported that he was awakened by a police officer who informed him that the van was on fire. Police are investigating.
SAN IGNACIO TOWN
POSTMORTEM EXAMINATION
On 26th September 2014, a postmortem examination was conducted on the body of Danny Daniel CONORQUIE, 20 year old Special Constable attached to the Tourism Police Unit, San Ignacio Police Formation and Resident of Georgeville Village, at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Morgue in Belize City. At the conclusion of the examination, the Doctor certified the cause of death to be as a result of Massive brain damage, due to head injury caused by multiple gunshot wounds.
PUNTA GORDA TOWN
Reference the shooting death of Rasheed ELIJIO in Punta Gorda Town, Police Constable David GRIFFITH was charged with manslaughter.
