ORANGE WALK DISTRICT

SHOOTING INCIDENT / ROBBERY

At 3:10pm on 19th September 2014, acting upon information of shots being fired on Otro Benque Road, Orange Walk Town, Police visited Hung Yun Store located at #2 Otro Benque Road. The owner of the store reported that two dark complexion male persons entered his establishment and pointed a handgun at him. They ordered him and the shop attendant to lie on the floor. The men then took $500.00 in cash and two cell phones. The men then ran out of the shop at which time he took out his licensed 9mm pistol and followed them. One of the men made a motion to pull something from his pants waist and the complainant fired several shots in his direction; hitting him on the right side of the body causing him to collapse on the street. The robber who was hit, was identified as Leslie Kenrick LOGAN, 30 year old of Orange Walk Town. Police conducted a search on him which led to the discovery of a handgun. LOGAN was transported to the Northern Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police have since retrieved (1) 9mm pistol with a magazine containing (11) 9mm live rounds from the owner of the establishment. The other robber made good his escape. Police investigations continue.  

BELIZE DISTRICT

SHOOTING INCIDENT

On 20th September 2014 at about 7:11pm, police visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they saw the body of a male person of identified as Glenmore STEVENS, 38yrs. The body had apparent gunshot wounds to the back. Initial investigations revealed that STEVENS was walking on Raleigh Street when he was approached by a male person of dark complexion who fired several shots at him causing his fatal injuries. Police have recovered 10 expended 9mm shells from the scene and have one man in custody, pending investigation.

BURGLARY

A 23-year-old Teacher and Resident of Belize City, along with her roommate, reported that sometime between 7:40am and 5:40pm on 18th September 2014, their house was burglarized. Stolen from inside their home were an assortment of gold and silver jewelries, perfumes, and household items. Police investigations continue.

BELMOPAN CITY 

SHOOTING INCIDENT

At 11:15pm on 19th September 2014, police visited a bus stop near a Night Club on Hummingbird Avenue where Daniel CASTILLO, 39 year old of Belmopan, reported that at 11:10pm on the same date, he was at the bus stop talking to a taxi driver when a male person came from behind the night club and shot him to the chin. CASTILLO was transported to the Western Regional Hospital and later to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was admitted in a stable condition. Police recovered (1) .380 expended shell from the scene and are looking for one person, pending investigations.  

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE

Jorge ROMERO, 20yrs, reported that at 1:00am on 20th September 2014, he went to socialize at a Night Club located in the Las Flores area and left a red and black Striker 150 motorcycle, license plates unknown, in the parking lot of the said club. Upon returning for the motorcycle, at 2:30am on the said date, it was missing. Police investigations continue. 

BURGLARY

A 47-year-old Businessman of Orchid Garden, Belmopan, reported that sometime between the hours of 8:30pm on 20th September 2014 and 7:30am on 21st September 2014, the lower flat of his two story house was burglarized. Stolen from inside his home were a 42 inch Samsung smart brand flat screen television, (1) 54 inch LG brand flat screen television and (1) blue Jan Sports bag containing school books. Police investigations continue.  

SAN IGNACIO TOWN

SHOOTING INCIDENT

On 21st September 2014 at about 11:55am, police visited the Tambos area in Cayo District where police saw the lifeless body of a Hispanic male person with apparent gunshot wounds to chest, arm and chin. He was identified as Manuel RAMOS, 27 year old of Tambos. His common-law wife, Alba Luz MORALEZ, 36 year old also of Tambos, was observed suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the leg. Both were transported to the Western Regional Hospital where MORALEZ remains in a stable condition. Police investigations continue.

DANGRIGA TOWN

DROWNING

On 20th September 2014 at 12:40am, police visited an area near the Tackle Stop Gas Station where they retrieved the body of Michael HUMES, of Dangriga Town, from the river. Initial investigations revealed that a passerby noticed a body in the river about 5 feet from the river bank, with assistance from the police and others, the body was retrieved from of the river. The body was taken to the Southern Regional Hospital where it was pronounced dead on arrival and now awaits a postmortem examination. No foul play is suspected. Police investigations continue.

PUNTA GORDA TOWN

BURGLARY

A Pastor of Punta Gorda Town visited the police station on 20th September 2014 at 3:45pm where he reported that on 19th September 2014, he received a telephone call from a family member who told him that sometime between the 18th September 2014 at 6:00am and the 19th September 2014 at 1:30pm, his concrete bungalow 3-bedroom-house was burglarized. Stolen from inside his home were electronic items and jewelry. Police investigations continue.
