ORANGE WALK DISTRICT
 
AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

On 20th July 2014 at 4:30p.m., Orange Walk Police visited the Northern Regional Hospital where they saw Felipe CAMARA, 32 year old of Guinea Grass Village, suffering from stab wounds to the center of his chest and abdomen. Initial investigation revealed that, on 20th July 2014 at 4:00pm, CAMARA was involved in an altercation with two male persons in Guinea Grass village which resulted in him sustaining the said injuries. Police are investigating.

BELIZE DISTRICT

SHOOTING INCIDENT             

A 34-year-old driver for Election and Boundaries visited Precinct one Police station and reported that, on 20th July 2014 at 10:20pm, he was driving a red government Wingle pick-up truck on West Collect Canal and upon reaching at the junction of West Collect Canal and South Street, and he slowed down at a speed bump. As he was passing the bump, he saw a male person standing approximately ten feet from the canal side. He stated that he just glanced at him for about thirty seconds and continued driving; however, as he was driving off, he heard a loud bang which sounded like a gunshot. He then heard four more gunshots, and fearing for his life, he sped off making his way to the police station. At the police station he made physical checks on the vehicle and noticed that the vehicle had bullet holes on the back part of the camper on the passenger side and on the tail gate. The camper glass of the passenger side was also damaged. Police are investigating.



On 20th July 2014 at around 11:03pm, a 57-year-old Fisherman of Belama Phase 1 reported that while driving his 2004 Green Mazda Pick Up truck on the Philip Goldson highway, he stopped at the pedestrian ramp in front of Friendship Restaurant to allow a male person to walk across the ramp towards Traveller's Bar. The 57-year-old man then turned to look at the male person, who had already passed his pick-up truck, when without any warning the same person turned around while on the ramp and fired four shots in his direction. The male person then ran back across the highway and got on a motorcycle that was parked on the right hand side of the highway, where another male person was already waiting. The two male persons then sped off in the direction of Park Avenue. Fearing for his life, He drove off and made his way home where he checked to see if he had received any injuries and noticed he had none. He was the only person in the pick up at the time. He then made his way to Belama, Precinct 4, to make a report. The vehicle had  (1) apparent bullet hole at the bottom of the windshield, (1) apparent bullet hole at the front driver's side where (1) slug was also recovered, (2) apparent bullet holes on the rear passenger glass, and (1) copper jacket was also recovered from  in front of Friendship Restaurant. Police investigations continue.

SUDDEN DEATH

On 18th July 2014, police visited the Fresh Catch Farm located in La Democracia Village, Belize District, where at pond 16 they saw the nude body of a male Hispanic person floating face down in the pond. The body was retrieved and was identified as Thomas GARCIA, 57 year old Guatemalan Watchman of Cotton Tree Village, Cayo District. The body of Thomas GARCIA was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:20am, on 19th July 2014. Police are investigating.

SAN PEDRO TOWN

DRUG TRAFFICKING
                                       
On 20th July 2014 at 11:00pm, police visited the residence of Juan MENJIVAR, located in the San Pedrito area of San Pedro Town, investigating a shooting incident which had allegedly occurred on 19th July 2014 in the DFC area of San Pedro Town. At the house, police met a 15-year-old male, of San Pedrito area, and 30-year-old Juan MENJIVAR, who produced his licensed black 9 millimeter SIG SAUER SP 2022 with eight 9mm live rounds in the magazine. Further searches of the house led to the discovery of over $10,000.00 in US and Belize currency, (8) liters of Hennessy and 3 brown parcels containing 1,413 grams of cannabis.

On 21st July 2014 at 2:00pm, police arrested and charged Juan MENJIVAR, 30 year old Belizean Taxi Driver of San Pedrito area, and a 15-year-old male of San Pedrito area, for the crimes of Drug Trafficking to wit: 1,413 grams of cannabis. MENJIVAR was additionally charged with Discharging a Firearm in Public, Uncustomed Goods and for the possession of over $10,000.00 believed to be the proceeds of Drug Trafficking.


HATTIEVILLE VILLAGE

MISSING PERSON 

On 21st July 2014 at 12:10am, Shawn BANNER, of Hattieville Village, visited the Hattieville Police sub-formation where she reported that on 20th July 2014 at 5:45am, her common-law husband, Kevin CARCAMO, 43 year old Belizean Chairman of the village, left home en route to work with Discoveries Oil Company located in Hattieville and up to the time of making this report he has not return home. Kevin CARCAMO is of clear complexion, muscular built, 6 feet 1inch in height, and has a beard. He was last seen wearing a blue jumpsuit. Police are investigating.

BELMOPAN CITY

FATAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

On 20th July 2014 at 1:20am, Belmopan Police visited an area on the North Ring Road where they saw a silver Mitsubishi Sport Utility Vehicle in a drain. Initial investigation revealed that, on 20th July 2014 at 1:15am, Alfonso MANZANERO, 62 year old Belizean of Nanche Street, Belmopan City, was driving the SUV when he lost control of the vehicle and collided into a drain. Alfonso MANZANERO was being assisted by three male persons, who were towing his vehicle out of the drain with a Ford Pickup truck when the cord being used broke and the vehicle knocked down Mr. MANZANERO who was standing in the area. He sustained injuries to the face, abdomen, knees, legs and hands. Mr. MANZANERO was transported to the Western Regional Hospital where he passed away while undergoing treatment. Police investigation continues. 

BENQUE VIEJO TOWN

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE

Erdulfo AVELLA, Belizean Bartender and Resident of Hills of Promise Area, Benque Viejo Town, reported that sometime between 11:30pm on 19th July 2014  and 12:30am on 20th July 2014, his green two-door Nissan pickup truck bearing license plates SISE C -29387 was stolen while parked in front of Zhens Superstore - located on George Price Boulevard - Benque Viejo Town. Police are investigating.

PUNTA GORDA TOWN

DRUG TRAFFICKING

On 20th July 2014 at 2:15am, while police were on mobile patrol on West Street in Punta Gorda Town, they searched Mark USHER, 34 year old of Vernon Street, Punta Gorda Town. The search resulted in the discovery of (7) parcels of wrapped aluminum foil containing what appeared to be crack cocaine. USHER was escorted to the Punta Gorda Police Station where the suspected drug was weighed in his presence which amounted to (3) grams. Mark USHER was detained pending charges of Drug Trafficking.
