COROZAL TOWN

ATTEMPT MURDER

On 11th May 2014 at 10:30pm, police visited the Corozal Community Hospital where they saw 34 year old Giovanni Henry BORLAND, of Western Pines, Belize District, suffering from a large cut wound to his head. Denmar WEST, of Libertad Village, was seen with injuries to the forehead - above his right eye; and 24 year old Joseph WEST, also of Libertad, was seen with a small cut wound to his right thumb. Initial Investigations revealed that on 11th May 2014 at 10:00pm, Giovanni BORLAND and Joseph WEST were at a local bar where an argument started. However, Joseph WEST left the area en route to another bar located about two lanes away, but Giovanni BORLAND reportedly followed him and on his way he got a machete and approached Joseph WEST. A struggled ensued in which Joseph managed to take away the machete from him. Shortly after, Denmar WEST, who is Joseph WEST’s brother, came out of the bar and was going home when he was reportedly attacked with an object by Giovanni. Joseph WEST saw what was happening to his brother and he set chase after Giovanni with the machete he had taken away earlier. Giovanni, while running, stumbled and fell to the ground where Joseph WEST reportedly inflicted a chop wound to his head. Giovanni BORLAND was transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he is in a critical condition. Police have since detained Joseph WEST, pending an investigation.
 
LADYVILLE VILLAGE

FOUND PROPERTY

On 11th May 2014 at about 10:20am, Police conducted a search in Lords Bank Village, Belize District, on an empty lot which is situated in the Hollywood Area of Lords Bank. As a result, (1) yellow and white cornflakes box which was tied up in a black plastic bag was found in some bushes. Inside the yellow box were (3) separate black plastic bags which contained loose, green, leafy vegetable substances, suspected to be cannabis -  amounting to 297 grams of suspected cannabis. No one was seen in the area at the time. The drugs were later processed and label as found property.
 
TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

On 10th May 2014 at about 11:30pm, based on information of a Traffic Accident in Double Head Cabbage Village, Belize District, police visited the said area. There they saw a male person lying motionless on the side of the road with a cut wound to the right side of his forehead and a red damaged Meilun Motor Cycle was seen, about 7 feet away from him, on its stand. Investigations revealed that 23 year old Jahman FLOWERS, Belizean Police Officer of Double Head Cabbage Village, was riding the motorcycle heading from the direction of Double Head Cabbage Village to Bermudian Landing Village when on the way he lost control of the cycle. He received head and body injuries. Jahman FLOWERS was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for medical attention where he was admitted to ward in a critical, but stable condition.
 
POSTMORTEM EXAMINATION

On 12th May 2014 at 1:00pm, a postmortem examination was conducted on the body of Evan Rasheed GARNETT Jr., 19 year old Belizean Student of Los Lagos Area. At the end of the examination, the doctor certified the cause of death to be Traumatic Shock, Massive Brain Damage Due to Head Injuries as a result of the Road Traffic accident.

FOUND PROPERTY

On 12th May 2014 at 11:00am, Police were on mobile patrol in the Jane Usher Area when they conducted a search in an open bushy lot which led to the discovery of two black plastic bags and one transparent plastic container, containing 489.7 grams of suspected cannabis. The drugs were labeled as found property. 
 
On 12th May 2014 at 3:20pm, Police conducted a search on Antelope Street Extension which led to the discovery of a small brown box containing two bulky black plastic bags. The plastic bags were opened which led to the discovery of 199.10 grams of suspected cannabis. No one was in the immediate area so the suspected drugs were taken to Precinct 2 where they were labeled as found property.

MISSING PERSON

A 54 year old mother presently residing at Saint Margaret’s Village reported that on 10th May 2014 at 2:30pm, she left home leaving her two daughters at home and on her return her eldest daughter informed her that her other daughter, Daisy, 13yrs, had left home and up to the time of making this report she has not returned. Daisy GIBBAS, is of brown complexion, about 5 feet 6 inches in height, weighs about 110 pounds, has short brown hair and a scar on her forehead near her hair line. Police investigations continue.
 
PUNTA GORDA TOWN

MISSING PERSON

A 41 year old mother of Barranco Village, Toledo District, reported that her son, Akeem LOREDO, 22 year old of Barranco, left her home on 5th May 2014, in the morning and has not returned home. He was wearing a red striped polo shirt and blue ¾ jeans pants and left on a purple male beach cruiser bicycle. Akeem LOREDO is of dark complexion, heavy built, about 5 feet 4 inches in height, and has a scar on the right cheek. He is mentally challenged. Police investigation continues.
 
POSTMORTEM EXAMINATION

On 12th May 2014 a postmortem examination was conducted on the body of Janice Florice VARGAS, 26 year old Belizean Waitress of 9 West Street, where the doctor certified the cause of death as vascular shock and internal bleeding due to gunshot wound.
