BELIZE DISTRICT

SHOOTING INCIDENT                                

On 9th May 2014 at about 4:45pm, police visited Antelope Street, Belize City, where they saw five expended shells and what appeared to be blood on the street. Checks were then made at Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where a 15 year old male student of Belize City was seen with (1) apparent gunshot wound to his right foot. Initial investigations revealed that, on 9th May 2014 at about 4:40pm, a group of  minors were playing in an abandoned  lot on Antelope Street when two male persons were seen riding on separate bicycles chasing another male person in the direction of Central American Boulevard. Upon reaching the corner of C. A. Boulevard and Antelope Street, both male persons then turned around and rode in the direction of Sea Gull street. Upon reaching an open lot on Antelope Street, one of the male persons reportedly pointed his firearm towards the minors in the open lot and fired several shots in their direction causing injury to one of the minors. Police are looking for the two men in regards to this matter.
 
SHOOTING INCIDENT

On 11th May 2014 at 11:30pm, police visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where 18 year old, Ronnie LEAL, Gas Attendant of Lords Bank, Belize District, was seen with one apparent gunshot wound to the left side of abdomen. Initial investigations revealed that Ronnie LEAL was travelling in a car on Kraal Road, Belize City, with a male person when another male person came out of a yard, where a party was being held, and fired several shot towards the vehicle causing the injury to LEAL. Police are investigating.
 
LADYVILLE VILLAGE

FATAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

On 10th May 2014 at 4:40am, Ladyville Police visited miles 11 on the Philip Goldson Highway where they saw a white 2006 Honda Accord car on the side of the road with extensive damages. Police observed, inside the car, on the driver’s seat, a male person lying motionless and apparently dead. He was later identified as 19 year old Evan GARNETT, Belizean Student of Los Lagos. Initial investigation revealed that GARNETT was driving his white Honda Accord car from Ladyville to Los Lagos on the Phillip Goldson Highway where he lost control and collided into an old trailer bus which was parked off the road on the left side of the Highway. Evan GARNETT was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:36am.
 
BELMOPAN CITY

ROBBERY

On 9th May 2014, a Bank Teller for Scotia Bank, Belmopan Branch, reported that at about 10:00am while a customer was making a deposit in cash and cheques, she saw a tall dark complexion male person who walked up to her booth, grabbed a quantity of money that was in the wicket and ran out of the bank. A police officer who was in the vicinity responded and set chase after the thief and caught up with him on Slim Lane. The thief was ordered to stop, but he proceeded to take out a machete as he advanced towards the officer. The officer then drew his service weapon and fired shots at him which caught him in the left leg and abdomen. This did not stop the suspect, identified as 25 year old Cannon OBISPO of Teakettle Village, from biting the officer on the neck. OBISPO was transported to the hospital for treatment. The officer was issued with a pair of medical form. Police have recovered $5,500.00Bcy from the pants pocket of OBISPO as investigation continues.

INTERMEDIATE SOUTHERN FORMATION

ESCAPE

On 10th May 2014, at 7:50pm, a loud bang was heard in the cell-block area at Independence Police Station. Upon making checks, it was observed that the cell door on a cell was completely knocked from its hinges. Two male prisoners, 26 year old Dale AUGUSTINE of Seine Bight and a 15 year old minor of Bella Vista, who were both detained in the cell, had apparently escaped. Police are now looking for both persons pending charges of escape. 
 
PUNTA GORDA TOWN

MURDER

Acting on information received of a Shooting Incident at Jamaica Bar at about 1:25am, on 11th May 2014, Punta Gorda Police visited Jamaica Bar located on Cayo Street in the Indian Ville Area, Punta Gorda Town. Upon arrival, a young female of Creole descent, identified as 28 year old Janice Florice VARGAS of Punta Gorda Town, was found lying unconscious in a pool of blood in a corridor leading to the back door. The body had what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to the right shoulder. Police transported Janice VARGAS to the Punta Gorda Hospital and she was then transferred to the Southern Regional Hospital, but succumbed to her injuries on the way at about 4:15am. Police have since detained a man of Punta Gorda Town for questioning.
